Yom haKippurim 2020
The Matthew 28 Key to the Remnant

    A. MORNING SERVICE

    Introduction

    Chag sameach Yom haKippurim kol beit Yisra'el and Mishpachah. Thank you for joining with us for this annual solemn assembly which is regarded by many as the holiest of the divine moedim (appointments). Whether that is the case or not I cannot say. What I do know is that it is on such occasions that those delivering a davar (word) have a great responsibility, the more so as this Day of Atonements is also known as 'Judgment Day'. Indeed yesterday afternoon Brother Gabriel admonished me - half seriously and half jocularly - to make sure I delivered a word from Yahweh and not from my flesh. I know what he means!

    The State of the Churches in America

    Given the times in which we live and what is already breaking out around the world, it is not a small matter to speak on what concerns the whole Messianic Community or Body of Christ. You already know how serious a state that is in today and I think most of you know what is coming. According to a survey made on churches in the United States, of the approximately 330,000 churches there, no more than about 15,000 of these - that's less than 5 per cent of the total - believe the Bible is inspired and reliable. That's pretty appalling. I can only guess at the percentage of churches that believe in the inspiration of the Bible here in continental Europe because it is going to be miniscule by comparison to the USA. What you believe about the contents of the Scriptures will shape your thoughts about Elohim (God), fellow human beings, revelation and history. Then you have the problem of those who do believe the Bible is inspired yet who deliberately, or because of unchallenged tradition, misinterpret it to fit a preconceived doctrine. The situation is dire.

    Today's Word

    Yesterday I prayed earnestly for guidance and pretty much immediately heard the Ruach (Spirit) tell me to go to Matthew 28, which is the last chapter of that Gospel - no verse number(s) were mentioned so I propose to be obedient to that instruction and invite you to open your New King James Version (NKJV) Evidence Bibles up (p.1383) and we will read through the whole chapter together. Then I will share with you why it's contents are so important to us today.

    Matthew 28

      "1 Now after the Sabbath, as Yom Rishon (the first day of the week) began to dawn, Mary Magdalene (Miriyam Magdala) and the other Mary (Miriyam) came to see the tomb. 2 And behold, there was a great earthquake; for a malak (angel) of Yahweh descended from heaven, and came and rolled back the stone from the door, and sat on it. 3 His countenance was like lightning, and his clothing as white as snow. 4 And the guards shook for fear of him, and became like dead men. 5 But the malak (angel) answered and said to the women, 'Do not be afraid, for I know that you seek Yah'shua (Jesus) who was crucified. 6 He is not here; for He is risen, as He said. Come, see the place where the Master lay. 7 And go quickly and tell His talmidim (disciples) that He is risen from the dead, and indeed He is going before you into Galilee; there you will see Him. Behold, I have told you.' 8 So they went out quickly from the tomb with fear and great simcha (joy), and ran to bring His talmidim (disciples) word.

      "9 And as they went to tell His talmidim (disciples), behold, Yah'shua (Jesus) met them, saying, 'Rejoice!' So they came and held Him by the feet and worshiped Him. 10 Then Yah'shua (Jesus) said to them, 'Do not be afraid. Go and tell My brethren to go to Galilee, and there they will see Me.'

      "11 Now while they were going, behold, some of the guard came into the city and reported to the chief cohenim (priests) all the things that had happened. 12 When they had assembled with the elders and consulted together, they gave a large sum of money to the soldiers, 13 saying, 'Tell them, 'His talmidim (disciples) came at night and stole Him away while we slept.' 14 And if this comes to the governor's ears, we will appease him and make you secure (make sure yuou don't get into trouble).' 15 So they took the money and did as they were instructed; and this saying is commonly reported among the Judeans until this day.

      16 Then the eleven talmidim (disciples) went away into Galilee, to the mountain which Yah'shua (Jesus) had appointed for them. 17 When they saw Him, they worshiped Him; but some doubted. 18 And Yah'shua (Jesus) came and spoke to them, saying, 'All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth. 19 Go therefore and make talmidim (disciples) of all the nations, baptising them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Ruach haQodesh (Holy Spirit), 20 teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the æon (age).' Amen" (Mt.28:1-20, NKJV).

    What Separates True from False Believers

    The question we must ask ourselves is this: what has this chapter to do with Yom haKippurim and the penultimate Judgment which we have formerly entered into now? From beginning to end, this chapter is a word about separation - and specifically, what separates the true believers from the false ones.

    The Eight Separators

    Let's now summarise those eight separators:

    • 1. The most obvious point is that the true Christians or Messianics - the Remnant - are unapologetically believers in, and proclaimers of, the literal physical resurrection of Yah'shua the Messiah (Jesus Christ) - it's the core doctrine of the Besorah (Gospel, Good News), and without it there is no Christianity;

    • 2. We are commanded, like the two Marys, to go and tell others who follow Christ about the physical resurrection for without it they are lost and have no hope - that means your liberal friends and those who belong to heretical groups like the Jehovah's Witnesses need to be shown the evidence for this core doctrine, and not just unbelievers;

    • 3. Because the physical resurrection is so important, the unbelievers will do all they can to dishonestly seek to discredit it - therefore, in our search for the truth, we should expect to encounter deliberate misinformation on the Derech (Way) which needs to be exposed for the sake of those walking in ignorance through no fault of their own;

    • 4. True believers will worship the resurrected Yah'shua (Jesus) as Elohim (God), acknowledging that the Father has given all authority to Him in heaven and on earth as His unique plenipotentiary [1], not as a co-equal (since a father is the head of a son), remembering also that at the conclusion of the æons (ages) that authority will be returned to the One who gave it to Him in the first place, the Father Yahweh (1 Cor.15:20-28);

    • 5. Others who claim to be 'Christians' will in fact turn out to be our enemies - because they are enemies of the cross and the resurrection - and will conspire with the unbelievers in order not to lose their privileges or positions of power in the world system;

    • 6. True believers will, at every opportunity, seek to witness to and convert unbelievers and false Christians, making them into talmidim (disciples) and baptise them by immersion before witnesses to make them accountable testators;

    • 7. True Christians/Messianics will teach these converts to do, i.e. live out, all that Yah'shua (Jesus) commanded - that means, all of His Father's mitzvot (commandments) and the new mitzvot (commandments) of the Son, and especially THE new mitzvah (commandment) that "you love one another; as I have loved you, that you also love one another" (John 13:34, NKJV); and finally

    • 8. In consequence of these seven separators, we are proimised that He will be with us always, to the very end of the æon (age), no matter what may happen.

    The Identifying Markers

    What this chapter is doing, then, and what the message most clearly being given today is saying, is that these 8 signs are what will principally define the Remnant at whatever stage of refinement or spiritual maturity we may be at. And we all know spiritual refinement or sanctification is an on-going process. These, then, are the signs or identifying markers by which the Messianic Community or Body of Christ will be separated into two entuirely different, and ultimately opposing, groups.

    A Choice Has Been Made

    As Chapter 28 is the concluding chapter of Matthew's Gospel, so here, today, at this Yom haKippurim in the Roman year of 2020, a chapter is ending in the history of the Messianic Community (Church) and the final chapter will be opening of this current æon on the last day of Sukkot (Tabernacles). From this day forth, either groups of believers will be moving away from the Remnant or towards it, because a decision has been reached to do so. That's not to say that on an individual basis believers will not change their minds and reverse course in either direction (because there is always personal agency and grace) but as far as churches, denominations and messianic assemblies are concerned, when they refuse to change course, they will come to an end or be absorbed into the Beast System and become implaccable enemies of the Derech (Way). Collectively (as groups) they are predestined to destruction, just as the saved are collectively predestined to glory. And those who remain with these fallen institutions will inevitably perish along with them.

    The New Commandment

    The New Commandment issued by Yah'shua (Jesus) is undoubtedly the main sieve of testing, which John the apostle explained:

      "He who loves his brother abides in the light, and there is no cause for stumbling in him. But he who hates his brother is in darkness and walks in darkness, and does not know where he is going, because the darkness has blinded his eyes" (1 John 2:10-11, NKJV).

    Cutting Across Denominational Divisions

    This mitzvah cuts across all the denominational divisions and then extracts those who are of this disposition from those denominations and gathers them together. The kind of "love" being spoken here is, of course, that selfless agapé or ahavah love known as chesed, mercy or grace.

    Reiterating a Former Commandment

    Interestingly, John insists he isn't giving a 'new commandment' but he is, in fact, reiterating an old one:

      "Brethren, I write no new mitzvah (commandment) to you, but an old mitzvah (commandment) which you have had from the beginning. The old mitzvah (commandment) is the davar (word) which you heard from the beginning [of Yah'shua's/Jesus' ministry, arguably also from Adam]. Again, a new mitzvah (commandment) I write to you, which thing is true in Him and in you, because the darkness is passing away, and the true light is already shining" (1 John 2:7-8, NKJV).

    Whether We Have Loved...

    A lot has happened in 2,000 years and once again we have come around full cycle and have reached a prophetic and historical climax in time - not the final one, but the penultimate or last-but-one climax. Though we shall certainly be examined and tested about many things we believe in and do, the final sieve will be whether we loved or not, as defined by Scripture and not our imprecise and unreliable feelings that are ever on the move.

    Terror and Delight

    Laying it out the way I have done so far may sound 'easy' but I want you to go back to the beginning of Matthew 28 to understand the mixture of terror and delight that must have gripped those two women at the empty tomb. You see, peace and quiet was the last thing they got as a result of this 'discovery'. Everything in the account is high drama: an earthquake, a malak (angel), stunned guards, and messages about Yah'shua (Jesus) going ahead of them to Galilee. We've heard the story so many times it doesn't evoke that kind of response in us any more. The thing is, with changes in epochs, æons and dispensations, unusual, extraordinary, frightening and delightful things happen to true believers, and we are at the terminus or end of one such period of time right now. The old casual, habitual ways of doing things are about to be turned on their heads!

    When Elohim Steps onto the Stage of History

    Then, as now, Yahweh was starting something new. The Elohim (God) who seemed quiet for so long since Malachi, was now stirring as if from a great sleep, because at the interface of major changes Elohim (God) always directly steps out onto the scene. What is about to happen isn't just going to be about individualls, and not even 'just' the Remnant of the Messianic Community or 'Church' - it's going to be about, and for, the whole world, just as the resurrection was as recorded in Matthew 28. We must all of us be prepared to be sent ahead to meet with Yah'shua (Jesus) at this historic time because that is where and when all the details will be given concerning the Final Gathering and Last Exodus in its next phase.

    The Old Ways and the New

    Now I know that at the announcement of such things the imagination is prone to wander off into all sorts of fantasies but the discipline not to do this must now be acquired. The way things have been done until now - whether by the Azuza Street revivalists, the Wesleyans, or anyone else - has to change. Yahweh cannot dive into the Museum of Christianity and revive old evangelists and their ways - what may have been adequate for their time will not be adequate this time round because we face an entirely different world. As for the nonsense that came out of Toronto, Pensacola, and elsewhere, all of that charismania has to die a thousand deaths and be permanently buried.

    The Seeker-Friendly Disaster

    The Melchizedek Order of the very end time is not one of impulse and chaos but of supernaturally endowed ORDER, like a sick and diseased body mending and being restored to perfect health like the lepers Yah'shua (Jesus) healed, or like the revived or thaumaturgised corpse of Lazarus. We have have never really spoken very much about this. Churches are too busy accepting people where they are (which is good) but then leaving them there (which is bad) for fear of upsetting them and driving them away. The seeker-friendly approach is a disaster - it's no different to what the early Catholics did in making it easier for pagans to convert by soft-pedling their pagan ways.

    Playing Games and Accumulating Clutter

    I don't know how many teachers you follow who talk regularly about the Melchizedek Order. Some are well meaning, others are just playing the 'mystery game' because they don't have a clue what it is and like to talk in circles to befuddle their listeners. To get the real Melchizedek Order restored, all the pretenders have first to demonstrate to each other, and to the churches and the world, that they have no idea what they are talking about or doing. That's often how Yahweh does things - gives the false teachers enough rope to hang themselves with. We've all made assess of ourselves at different times and have had to eat humble pie. We have to arrive at the Job realisation of how ignorant we are no matter how much knowledge we have picked up along the way. Much of it turns out to be clutter that is best discarded and forgotten. Do as Brother Gabriel has done - prayed to forget all that Yahweh doesn't want him to hang onto.

    Between Rapturism and Kingdom-Now

    People are, in any case, getting sick of the hype, the pretended revelation and prophesy, the ivory towers of theological arrogance, to the point they are beginning to vomit it up and disown it. That's usually how the Remnant first comes out. Look at all the nonsense being said about the 'rapture' and in case anyone hasn't noticed, the 'Kingdom Now' proponents are being shown up too. Far from the Kingdom being gradually inaugurated, chaos is rising in the world everywhere, as Yah'shua (Jesus) predicted (Lk.18:8). Do not assume that after the defeat of the potentates (Deep State leaders etc.) in the time ahead that paradise is suddenly coming to earth. What is to come will be a long drawn-out process of struggle - of overcoming. All that is being bought is a breathing space for the Remnant in which to do its work of evangelism and discipling. That's all. So we had better use the time we're being given wisely.

    So What Does the Melchizedek Order Look Like?

    So what does this New Covenant Melchizedek Order look like? It isn't remotely like the glory of the Levitical Priesthood and that was pretty amazing - just think back on the decication of Solomon's Temple! It isn't even like the pre-messianic Melchizedek Order though it's close.

    Thick Veils Still Hide Elohim from Us

    Yah'shua (Jesus) prayed:

      "Father, glorify Me in Thy own presence with the glory which I had with Thee before the world began" (Jn.17:7, NEB).

    And what did that look like? What a tantalising question! We get a glimpse of it on the Mount of Transfiguration. That was what the immortal Messiah looked like! That was the glory He had with the Father before He was incarnated. The glory of the Levitical compared to the glory of the Melchizedek can be compared to the glory of Yah'shua (Jesus) in His every day life in His mortal ministry compared to His glory on the Mount of Transfiguration. We're still messing around on the Levitical level, minus all the Levitical system of sacrifices and so on.

    Whence the Patriarchal Dialogues With Yahweh?

    Don't you ever wonder why we aren't having dialogues with Yahweh in the same way as the Patriarchs did? For the most part we're having monologues and are guessing at the words He speaks to us through the Ruach (Spirit). And sometimes we're just listening to our own feelings and inner voices and calling them 'the Spirit'. There are some pretty thick veils shiedling us from the Creator presently. Have you ever wondered why? The usual retort is something like, 'Jesus is now the bridge between us and God'. And it's true, but who's hearing Yah'shua (Jesus) accurately? One branch of Christendom says Yahweh doesn't talk to us like He did to the Patriarchs any more and, by implication, to be content with fumbling in the dark. Another says the opposite and hurries to hear and report every voice in their head they can hear. No wonder people are sceptical. Yes, we do have direct access to the Father now through Christ but who has disciplined themselves to commune with the Ruach (Spirit)?

    Repenting of Theological Obfuscation and Pretend Charismata

    We have to go back to basics and leave all those foggy, complicated Augustinian and Reformed theologies and false charismatic impartations behind that have waylaid and blinded the Body. We must go back to Matthew 28 and rebuild. First of all, the world has got to hear about the resurrection and the great, great love of Elohim (God). Without a firm belief in the resurrection or a revelation to the heart of the Saviour's incredible sacrificial love, which we're supposed to imitate, we're legless, armless, toothless, you name the metaphor. If we haven't got to this stage of revelation and impartation, then nothing else frankly matters - not all the Torah-pushing, not all the babbling in gibbberish or the philosophising of the Church Councils and Confessions of men. Perhaps the first thing we need to repent of this Yom haKippurim is all our pontificating about the deeper mysteries. Not that they are unimportant but they're not the main business of the Christian witness. That's one thing. The other, is pretending to be what we aren't yet by thinking we have to act it all out in order to be seen to be 'orthodiox' or whatever it is we want to be seen and accepted as in whatever denomination or circle of believers we're trying to impress with our 'spirituality' or knowledge. After all, it isn't working too well, is it?

    Two Thousand Years of Craziness

    The Messianic Community or Church has to be whipped into 'Melchizedek Order shape' by blunt speaking and example-setting, or major parts of Christendom will finally be spat out. That's one reason tribulation is being sent because you can't fool around in tribulation - only the real thing counts then. What makes us think we're so special when in the first century there was such a mess after a mere 50 or 60 years after the Ascension. Look at the seven assemblies (churches) of Asia Minor. Imagine the craziness that has accumulated after 2,000 years, let alone 50 or 60! Today there's every flavour of the gospel in every imaginable wrapping or packaging you can conceive of, most of it man-made, some fossilised, some of it just wild partying. Who wants any of that? What's amazing is how believers can get so satisfied with all of that play-acting through rituals or falling down on the floor, writhing like someone having an epileptic fit, making animal noises, and babbling nonsense. And the denominations are so very serious about their particular 'party scene', aren't they? Even the so-called 'independents' bring this stuff with them - changing labels or getting rid of them altogether doesn't change what's happening inside. So we have to go back to basics, like the first believers, by re-telling the incredible story of the resurrection and sharing the Saviour's divine love with others. We'll have more than our plates full with just those. And people will come again and again to feast because this is real heavenly manna!

    King and Kingdom

    The Message we are to bring is in two parts or aspects: with the one hand we bring the Message of the Risen King of Love, and with the other hand we bring the Message of the Kingdom of Order and Discipline represented by the most ordering act in the universe: the resurrection. These who 'hands' are as husband and wife, complimentary and indispensible, and attempts to separate them into lovey-dovey happy-clappy lawlessness, on the one hand, and cold, sterile, loveless legalism on the other, have to cease, because that's what happens when you dovorce the two. Most people tend to be attracted to one or the other depending on whether that disposition is primarily left-brainedness or right-braindness - arty or logical - but the Remnant must walk the narrow way between them, with one in each arm. Matthew 28 brings these two necessary halves together and then tells us to get on with it.

    The Great Exposure

    What the wicked have treid to hide for so long is now being exposed and is being, and will be, judged. Just look at the news everyday, with new revelations of crimes, corruptions and wickedness in high places. Look at the mob violence and barbarism in low places too. But what has been hidden in the Kingdom must also be revealed, a little at time, sometimes in much abundance. The Camp of Israel cannot, and will not, be spared from Judgment, and indeed there it will be the most severe. The false teachers will go the way of Korah.

    Yah'shua is Already Ruling...But How?

    Believers are often puzzled by the teaching of the Messianic Scriptures (New Testament) that Yah'shua the Messiah (Jesus Christ) is already ruling the world when there is little immediate outward evidence for it. Indeed, what we see with our eyes and hear with our ears of this tragedy or that seems to lend support to the sceptics about this. Yes, Yah'shua (Jesus) is already ruling as its King, about which Satan can do absolutely nothing (even though he thinks he can) and yet the world is not as the King intends it to be - not by a long shot.

    Life After Life After Death

    We're His called-out co-workers and the first thing we need to realise is that this world is for us so we had better stop thinking and longing to be 'escaped' to heaven by rapture, rupture (death), or whatever. In our living out and witnessing of the Gospel we have to think beyond heaven to the Millennial Earth - what N.T.Wright calls 'life after life after death' - to which the faithful will be returning - and whilst it is, of course, right to look forward to heaven as a resting station or a travelers' inn along the journey's road, as the Bible teaches us it is, we must stop imagining that that's where it all ends. Our vision must be much larger. If we do start remembering that this earth was created for us for eternity in a future glorified state, we are apt not to be invested enough in 'Project Earth' which as science has now demonstrated is literally at the centre of of this gigantic Universe.

    Gathering in Jerusalem Before Rising in the Sky

    What we are called to do here is lay a foundation by preparing the way, like John the Baptist, though this is a collective action involving kol Yisra'el - all Israel. Some of you, who will still be alive when Yah'shua (Jesus) returns, are to be on the 'welcoming committee', as it were, for the returning, triumphant King. But to do that, we have to go out from the place where the New Jerusalem is to be. We have to be there first. That means the Remnant must be gathered in that one place. When the 'welcoming committee' is raised in the air to meet Him, it isn't some terrifically long journey to another planet or world - it's just a little way up in the air. And when the Remnant qodeshim (saints, set-apart ones) rise up to meet Him, it won't be from multiple locations all around the world. People won't be levitating from Argentina, Canada, Australia, Rwanda and Nepal - can you imagine the tremendously long journeys involved for all but those actually in the Promised Land? The Scrupture says we will be raised upwards, not circumscribe the globe too, even if we're resurrected and could theoretically endure the cold of the rarified atmosphere. That scneario doesn't seem to fit the types and symbols. The survivors of the Great Tribulation (yet to come in some years hence) will rise vertically from one location to meet Him as He manifests in our plane of existence a little way above us and meet before escorting Him back to Israel. Otherwise, what would be the point of a Second Exodus and a Final Gathering? We could just be plucked out where we are and be translocated supernaturally. But that wasn't how the first Israel left Egypt, was it? They had to journey, and journey hard, and for many good reasons, not least of which was separation.

    Return of the Twelve Tribes

    This is to be the true 'rapture', so-called (though that's not a biblical word but one invented by men), not a whisking away to some other dimension or place, but a raising from the earth - briefly, for a very short period of time - and then returning to the transplanted New Jerusalem from heaven together with Messiah and all the resurrected qodeshim (saints, set-apart ones) of all the bygone æons. Some of our loved ones, who recently died or who are dying, will be with that great triumphant throng. You who are alive on the earth when this happens will in many cases have to make very long journeys - not in the air but on the ground - every bit as dramatic as the First Exodus from Egypt, only more so, for there will be twelve companies making this journey, each representing one of the Tribes of Israel, journeying by different routes.

    The Promises of Healing, Forgiveness and the Ruach haQodesh

    Today Yahweh is calling us back to Himself. Indeed, He does so every day, saying "My wayward children, come back to Me, and I will heal your wayward hearts" (Jer.3:22, NLT) with this promise:

      "Each of you must turn from your sins and turn to Elohim (God), and be baptised in the Name of Yah'shua the Messiah (Jesus Christ) for the forgiveness of your sins. Then you will receuve the gift of the Ruach haQodesh (Holy Spirit). This promise is to you and to your children..." (Ac.2:38-39a, NLT).

    Conclusion

    We shall return here in five hours for the closing assembly. Please use the time wisely getting right with Yahweh, remembering it is a High Sabbath today, so that He may do His good work in you and set you on course on the Heavenly Way. May His grace and epace be with you until we meet again. Amen.

    Endnotes

    [1] A person, like a diplomat, invested will full power of independent action on behalf of their monarch or government, typically in a foreign country. Yah'shua the Messiah (Jesus Christ) was likewise invested with full authority by Yahweh, His Father, in Heaven, to act representationally and with full authority on His behalf on another world, planet earth.

    B. LATE AFTERNOON SERVICE

    Introduction

    Shalom and welcome back to the final assembly of Yom haKippurim. We've broken with our custom this year and instead of meeting in our assembly hall we're gathered in our home living room, mostly because it's warmer but also because it has more of a family atmopshere and we can squeeze everyone in this year. There's also a very special spirit here this year, quite different from any previous Yom haKippurim, what one of you has described as a unique shalom (peace). I feel that too.

    Explanation of the neilah Prayers

    At the end of each annual Yom haKippurim appointment we traditionally receit our own version of the Neilah prayers in which we come together communally or collectively as a covenant fellowship to make confession and to ask Yahweh's forgiveness for a year of sinning. Our sinning impacts all those under the same covenant which is why we must do this - it's a feature of the Melchizedek Order as it was of the former Mosaic or Levitical Order too. Our repentance is to Yahweh for having hurt Him and each other through our disobedience and carelessness so that we can emerge renewed in the Ruach (Spirit). How this works is a supernatural work of Yahweh. Afterwards, on a day and at a time that will be announced, we will seal this communal reconciiation by partaking of the Master's (Lord's) Supper. When the whole Messianic Community (Church) does this together, it experiences a blessed cleansing.

    Invitation to Prayer

    For this to be efficacious, or to actually work, we do, of course, have to be sincere in our minds and hearts, and because these prayers don't just represent one person - the pastor - we repeat them every year because we are agreed on them. So I would like to now invite you all to join with me in these prayers, and if you are outside this congregation of Mishpachah Lev-Tsiyon of covenanted, Messiah-trusting and Torah-submitted believers, you are still very welcome to join with us even if you belong to other congregations.

    The Concluding Neilah Prayers

    O Yahweh, Elohim of our fathers! Let our prayers come before You, through Yah'shua our Deliverer, and do not hide Yourself from our supplication. What shall we say to You who dwell on High? You know all things, both hidden and revealed. You search our hearts and thoughts. Nothing is hidden from Your sight. We are not so arrogant nor hardened to say, 'We are righteous and have not sinned.' For truly we have sinned. We have turned away from the good mitzvot (commandments) You have given us. You are righteous and true in all Your ways, but we have done evil in Your sight. Thank You, our Heavenly Father, and Elohim of our fathers, that You forgive all our sins, pardon all our iniquities, sanctify the altar of our heart, bless and sanctify the quodesh (holy, set-apart) places in our homes and assemblies, sanctify your leaders in Messianic Israel, both the husband-fathers and the cohenim (priests), and grant atonement for all our transgressions through the blood of Yah'shua the Messiah.

    For it is written: "If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness". 'Return O Israel to Yahweh-Elohim, for you have stumbled because of your iniquity. Take words with you and return to Yahweh. Say to Him, "Take away all iniquity, and receive us graciously, that we may present the fruit of our lips."'

    We repent for the sin we committed in Your sight by:

    • sinning wilfully, and for the sin we committed in ignorance.
    • slander, and for the sin of lashon hara or gossip.
    • neglecting our responsibilities, and for the sin of selfishness.
    • indulging evil thoughts, and for the sin of lust.
    • being lukewarm, and for the sin of not loving You with all our hearts and souls.
    • not hungering and thirsting for righteousness, and for the sin of not being poor in spirit.
    • not being merciful, and for the sin of withholding when we could have given.
    • speaking foolish words, and for the sin of not controlling our tongues.
    • not loving our neighbours, and for the sin of not blessing our enemies.
    • not turning the other cheek, and for the sin of practising our righteousness before men.
    • being proud, and for the sin of lack of zeal.

    For the sin we committed in Your sight knowingly, and for the sin we committed unknowingly. For all these, O Elohim of forgiveness, forgive us, pardon us, and grant us atonement in Yah'shua the Messiah.

    For the sin we committed in Your sight by:

    • not walking as Yah'shua walked, and for the sin of not being filled with Your Ruach.
    • loving the world, and for the sin of loving the things in the world.
    • putting other things before You, and for the sin of idolatry.
    • not praying at all times, and for the sin of not being thankful.
    • not being quick to forgive, and for the sin of holding resentments.
    • not going the second mile, and for the sin of impatience.
    • not doing unto others as we would have them do unto us, and for the sin of greed.
    • being anxious about the things of this life, and for the sin of not trusting You to provide for all of our needs.
    • setting our minds on the things below, and for the sin of not setting our minds on things above.

    For all these, O Elohim of forgiveness, forgive us, pardon us, and grant us atonement in Yah'shua the Messiah as your people Israel. Amen.

    Shofar haGadol

    (Final blowing of the ram's horn)

    I hereby declare Yom haKippurim at an end, in Yah'shua's Name. Amen!
