Do You Know Yahweh's Conditions?
Continued from Part 1
Yesterday we saw what the conditions were for obtaining Eternal Life - life in the etrnities after death - and can well imagine that some of our Evangelical Christian readers were surprised. Last night and this morning Yahweh twice told me to talk about Ezekiel 18 today which lays out Yahweh's conditions for remaining alive here and now on earth. And if there is a list of conditions for staying alive on earth, you can be quite sure that that list is also a part of the list of conditions for eternal life. Moreover, Yahweh repeats this list three times so that we can be in no doubt what His conditions for divine favour are:
"The word of Yahweh came to me again, saying, 'What do you mean when you use this proverb concerning the land of Israel, saying: 'The fathers have eaten sour grapes, and the children's teeth are set on edge'? As I live,' says Yahweh-Elohim, 'you shall no longer use this proverb in Israel. Behold, all souls are Mine; the soul of the father as well as the soul of the son is Mine; the soul who sins shall die.
"'But if a man is just and does what is lawful and right; if he has not eaten on the mountains, nor lifted up his eyes to the idols of the house of Israel, nor defiled his neighbour's wife, nor approached a woman during her impurity; if he has not oppressed anyone, but has restored to the debtor his pledge; has robbed no one by violence, but has given his bread to the hungry and covered the naked with clothing; if he has not exacted usury nor taken any increase, but has withdrawn his hand from iniquity and executed true judgment between man and man; if he has walked in My statutes and kept My judgments faithfully -- he is just; he shall surely live!' says Yahweh-Elohim" (Ezek 18:1-9, NKJV).
A soul obedient to these commandments is guaranteed his life on this earth, a pretty good insurance scheme since it is signed and sealed by Heaven. Now obviously there are few people these days who are participating in identical pagan ceremonies to the ones identified by Ezekiel but they are all related. Orthodox Christianity is riddled with modified pagan ceremonies that gave been given a Christian veneer such as Christmas, Easter, the 'secular' (actually pagan Roman) New Year's Day, and in a week's time, Halloween. The Messianics aren't a lot better, following Kabbalistic Talmudic Jewish occultic mysticism, Rosh Hashanah, Satyr (Saturday) worship, and worship under the vile symbol of the star Remphan, which is Moloch worship - an idolatry fallen and counterfeit 'Israel' prides itself in (I will have more to say about this another time). Paganism is rampant everywhere and it takes special, dedicated care to get it out of a believer's life. Most people think these thigs are nothing and reflexly defend them by means of deep-seated tribal instincts (much as people reflexly vote for established political parties even after they have completely changed), but Yahweh hates them and commands us to get rid of them if we are serious about expecting His protection.
- 1. Don't take part in any kind of pagan feast ("eating on the mountains");
- 2. Don't be idolatrous, and especially not with idolatries named for the House of Israel;
- 3. Do not commit adultery or even so much as make an adulterous approach to your neighbour's wife;
- 4. Don't have sex when your wife is menstruating;
- 5. Don't oppress anyone;
- 6. Don't steal co-lateral left for a loan (return all "pledges");
- 7. Don't rob anyone or do violance to him;
- 8. Feed the hungry;
- 9. Clothe the naked;
- 10. Don't charge interest on a loan (usury);
- 11. Don't commit iniquity;
- 12. Execute true judgment man to man;
- 13. Walk in Yahweh's Chuqqim (Statutes);
- 14. Keep Yahweh's Mishpatim (Judgments).
Adultery is pretty much a 'given', or is it? Actually, statistics that I have seen on the morality of 'Christians' in general show that it is not much different from the surrounding secular society. Sex is regarded as a recreational past-time, not something sacred and set-apart to Yahweh. They don't understand that sex is the act of Torah-sanctioned marriage. And any rebuke to 'believers' these days to live in a sexually moral way is met with scorn because the modern 'conscience' is governed by existentialist feelings and not by Yahweh's Torah. So you can imagine the reaction to Yahweh declaring - as He does here in Ezekeil - that even those who are legally marriaged in His eyes (people faithful to their spouses) are not much better off than adulterers when they have sex during menstruation. Most Christians don't even know what the Law of Niddah is and the few that do rationalise disobeying it by claiming Yah'shua (Jesus) has done away with it, or because it doesn't make any sense to them. Well there's a reason Yahweh commanded abstinence during a woman's monthly period but even if you don't know why that is never a reason to disobey the Most High, El Elyon.
Most Christians don't even know what adultery is, let alone the difference between adultery and fornication. And if you tell them that, according Yahweh's word, a single woman can never commit the sexual sin of adultery but only the sexual sin of fornication, they will stare at you in disbelief and riddicule you. But it is true. And the reason people don't know these things is because they have never systematically studied the Scriptures but just parrot the teachings of men they hear from the pulpit. I'll state it again - it is impossible for a single woman to commit adultery but a single man can. If that has not excited your curiosity and spurred you to do some careful research, then I can only assume you do not care what Yahweh's Davar (Word) says, and wish to remain in ignorance.
How many of you knew that usury - lending money with interest to a fellow believer - is a sin in Yahweh's eyes?
The rest of Yahweh's demands in our passage today are - or ought to be - self-evident. Yah'shua (Jesus) reminded us to feed the hungry and clothe the naked, referring to this mitzvah (commandment) (Mt.25:31-46). However, there is more than just the items listed - that was just to get our attention - for Yahweh's demands 'end' with the requirement that all His Mishpatim (Judgments or Right-Rulings) and Chuqqim (Statutes and Ordinances) be obeyed thoroughly. Should this not be an incentive to carefully study all of His Torah? If you have never done so, then I recommend you start a systematic study with your family. You can do it thoroughly in one year with a bit of careful planning.
"If one of your brethren becomes poor, and falls into poverty among you, then you shall help him, like a stranger or a sojourner, that he may live with you. Take no usury or interest from him; but fear your Elohim (God), that your brother may live with you. You shall not lend him your money for usury, nor lend him your food at a profit" (Lev.25:35-37, NKJV; also Dt.23:19-20; Ex.22:25; OB 97).
After all that we have said at Sukkot this year and the importance of Yahweh's protection in these perilous times, you'd have thought that a greater awareness of the need for careful scripture study would have taken root. No one else can study the Scriptures for you, you have to do it yourself. And if you don't, then it simply witnesses that you are willing to gamble with your life and your family's.
Start by reading through the whole of Ezekiel 18 to see how serious about this Yahweh is. And then get stuck into an in-depth Torah-study (but stay away from Jewish fables and traditions - Titus 1:14; Mk.7:13). Quite apart from the fact that obeying what you learn will guard your chayim (life) and that of your family, it will also enable you both to draw closer to Yahweh and to make better sense of the B'rit Chadashah Scriptures (New Testament) and the teachings of Yah'shua (Jesus) Himself. Not only that, but you will save your children from the snares of ignorance. If you, the fathers, eat sour or unripe grapes, then you can only expect the children's teeth to be blunted, for they will suffer the consequences of your sins of negligence:
Therefore instruct them in Torah that they may live! "The soul of the father as well as the soul of the son is Mine; the soul who sins shall die". And no, this has nothing to do with so-called 'soul-sleeping' but is eschatological - to "live" is to enter into that Millennial Kingdom, and to "die" is is to have no part of it, having no admittance to the heavenly Mishkan (Tabernacle).
"Yahweh, Yahweh-Elohim, merciful and gracious, longsuffering, and abounding in goodness and emet (truth), keeping mercy for thousands, forgiving iniquity and transgression and sin, by no means clearing the guilty, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children and the children's children to the third and the fourth generation" (Ex.34:6-7, NKJV).
Chayim (life) is the reward of the righteous and we have been given the picture of correct living - piety, chastity, and beneficence, rooted in obedience to Yahweh's mitzvot (commands). These are the Way in Messiah Yah'shua (Jesus). Let us pursue them with all diligence!
