    D2. The Traps of Hecate
    and Salvation in Yah'shua
    by Jemimah

When Yah'shua had called the Twelve together, He gave them power and authority to drive out all demons and to cure diseases, and he sent them out to preach the Kingdom of God and to heal the sick. (Luke 9:1-2)

"The seventy-two returned with joy and said, "Lord, even the demons submit to us in your name." He replied, "I saw Satan fall like lightning from heaven. I have given you authority to trample on snakes and scorpions and to overcome all the power of the enemy; nothing will harm you. However, do not rejoice that the spirits submit to you, but rejoice that your names are written in heaven." (Luke 10:17-20)

From these verses we learn two things. Firstly, that by Yah'shua we are given power to overcome the enemy and His demons; and secondly, that we should rejoice in the Kingdom to come and not in our victory over the devil.

With that in mind I'd like to talk a little about a subject that has not been a common topic amongst Christians for many years as we are afraid of copying people in the past who got burned playing with fire. Without the power of Yah'shua's blood and obedience to His command we are less than useless in combat "...against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms." (Eph 6:12), In fact they'd have us for breakfast and use us to be stumbling blocks for others. That is exactly what most of the Catholic exorcisms, and other ungodly encounters with the demonic realm have been examples of. As a result people have pulled away from all such activity and left that ground open for Satan to do with as he pleases. But there is an urgent need to "..put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand." (Eph 6:13) And that is why I want to talk about deliverance which needs to be on every Christian's agenda as part of their walk in Christ.

In particular I'd like to give you an example on how to recognise and deal with a higly deceptive demoness who is very active at this time and hopefully by reccognizing one, it will be easier to start being able to see the enemy and point out all his diferent tactics as soon as possible to beat him before he even gets a foot in.

Before I continue, I also wish to point out that every human weakness is not necessarily demonic in origin, and although I think it is better to be safe than sorry, casting out imaginary demons instead of working out character defects will not be helpful. The battle for a person's salvation has at least two stages. The first is to get rid of any intruders so that the person is free to act according to his or her own free choice, and the second is the process by which a person learns to think feel and act in a godly manner as he or she becomes continually more acquainted with the Ruach haQodesh (Holy Spirit) and learns what it means to grow in Christ and His love.

Ok, let's launch into what I wanted to say. Recently I have experienced, and been aware of the luring spirit of a certain demoness called Hecate. She has many names: Lillith, Artemis, Diana, Selene, Agriope, Gaia, Sheol, and other ones in pagan religions. From the earliest times she has been associated in heathen mythology with the power of the earth and in particular with fertility and death.

She manifests as a female trinity, she is known, for example, in Greek mythology as The Fates - Clotho (the Spinner), Lachesis (the Apportioner), and Atropos (the Inevitable) - the crone, the mother, and the maid - which describe three of her spiritual characteristics as one who spins illusion and deception. She is a hierarch or controlling demoness, one who creates a sense of fatality or inevitability in those who are yielded to her powers. As Nyx, the night goddess, she is associated with Hypnos (hypnosis) and Death, who are represented in Greek mythology as her two sons.

She works on and in both men and women, and differs from many male demons in the way that those who are subjected to her come forth as "aloof" but yet potentially "explosive" - in other words if you don't confront her you will be "rewarded" with acceptance and amiable behaviour, but at the same time there is this constant potential rage if you rub her the wrong way.

In her subjects she will create the illusion (spinner) that the universe is contained in the "world" (the circle around the triangle) that she has authority (apportioner) over that world, and that nothing can or even should be changed (Inevitable) - this leaves the person feeling content, secure (no fears) and unwilling to move in any direction as there is no need. It also renders the person less compassionate and undetermined - which makes any kind of devoted loyalty impossible. Each person is served their own illusion about what the universe is like according to what makes that person comfortable. To one the illusion may be that there is no God and at death all is rest, another may believe that he or she will be reincarnated and have no worries at all in the next life, or perhaps reach Nirvana, yet another may believe that Yah'shua has paid the price and we need not lift a finger but only enjoy all He has freely given. The list could go on and on, and each would have a slight variation from everybody else's consciousness-awareness, but all would agre that all is well and they need not change or at least they are doing all that's necessary, and so finding people who try to say otherwise is regarded by them as stupid or ill-informed.

To accomplish this Hecate divides a person from his or her feelings and especially the feeling of fear - fear of not making it, fear of not being loved, fear of death. The person is thus detached from the heart and has all conciousness derived through the head. The person is no longer run by the heart's yearnings but has the falcon perspective of life (see the eye). In other words instead of being a part of every hurt, thrill, and emotional experience that those around the person experiences, the subject observes it and digests it viā reason. This does not however mean that the person is without emotions, only that they are used at will and are not spontaneous or urgent.

This 'superior', elevated perspective is applied by the subject to look at both others and themselves. And as a matter of fact it is unable to comprehend what is actually happening in those who are spiritually in focus. Like a camera lens can never pick up the real emotions and thoughts in a person who is not acting, it is impossible to see the reality through the "Hecate-lens".

As you can see, the fruits may seem tasty, but they are definitely deadly. To inherit life the ingredients are rather different from detatchment and stagnation:

"Yah'shua replied, "The hour has come for the Son of Man to be glorified. I tell you the truth, unless a kernel of wheat falls to the ground and dies, it remains only a single seed. But if it dies, it produces many seeds. The man who loves his life will lose it, while the man who hates his life in this world will keep it for eternal life. Whoever serves me must follow me; and where I am, my servant also will be. My Father will honour the one who serves me." (John 12:23-26).

Here is a promise, but also a command to stay close to Yah'shua if we want to serve Him. Loyalty is the first and foremost requirement in order to be His disciple. Then He will honour us because that is something He cherishes. We cannot be detatched and loyal. Hecate may offer some sense of pleasure in this life. To have no fear may be very comfortable but look at what Yah'shua requires, and why.. "The man who loves his life will lose it, while the man who hates his life in this world will keep it for eternal life." - What is best, a moment (this life) of happiness or an eternity (the next life) of it? Your choice..

    But Yah'shua doesn't stop there:

"Now my heart is troubled, and what shall I say? 'Father, save me from this hour'? No, it was for this very reason I came to this hour. Father, glorify your name!" (John 12:27-28)

Here we see that He poses as the ultimate example Himself. He would endure everything for His Father's sake. And as we know He died for us in obedience to Him. That is what He expects of us too ... not to flee into a fantasy 'reality', but loyally plod on in the real world as complete human beings. We will be safe, but not from our feelings or our circumstances, we are expected to work with those and endure what we must. At the same time we have a promise about that too:

"Those who trust in Eloah (the Lord) are like Mount Zion, which cannot be shaken but endures forever. As the mountains surround Jerusalem, so Eloah (the Lord) surrounds his people both now and forevermore." (Ps.125:1-2)

Now here is another issue that we face when dealing with demons. We must stop relying on ourselves and the habit of believing in what they present to be true, but rather surrender to Yahweh and trust in Him alone. Do we trust that when we are told in the Bible that demons are there, and that they war agianst Him, that that it is true? Do we trust that He is really stronger than the demons? Do we trust that His way of life is better than how we are living? Do we believe we can find the truth, and do we believe it is worth living in it? All of those questions we need to say "yes" to if we are to be set free from any trap or illusion. And now I will try to say why getting free is so vital.

Most people like to believe that getting to know them is a good thing for other people. But the truth is that only if you aid them in their journey towards Yahweh, His statutes and His Kingdom you are good news in their lives, otherwise you are most likely, calling a spade a spade here, simply wasting their precious time. If you are not a co-worker you are helping the enemy.

So in other words, taking care of those around you is one reason to get right with Yahweh. Another reason is yourself. If you sit and do nothing you will never reach the end of your journey. Yahweh never said He would do everything for you, just that He would make it possible, and with Him you can get there, and without Him you'll never manage:

"Then Yah'shua said to his disciples, "If anyone would come after Me, he must deny himself and take up his cross and follow Me. For whoever wants to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for Me will find it. What good will it be for a man if he gains the whole world, yet forfeits his soul? Or what can a man give in exchange for his soul? For the Son of Man is going to come in his Father's glory with His angels, and then He will reward each person according to what he has done." (Matt 16:24-27)

Again we see that we may not sit passively down if we are to please Yahweh. This is the lie that Hecate spins the most around.. "You need do nothing, all is well". In nature we are shown an example of this in the way the cobra hypnotises it's victim to be absolutely still when it should be running for it's life. Peter specifically warns us against such sleep:

"Therefore humble yourselves under the mighty hand of God, that He may exalt you in due time, casting all your care upon Him, for He cares for you. Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil walks about like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour. Resist him, steadfast in the faith, knowing that the same sufferings are experienced by your brotherhood in the world. But may the God of all grace, who called us to His eternal glory by Christ Jesus, after you have suffered a while, perfect, establish, strengthen, and settle you. To Him be the glory and the dominion forever and ever. Amen." (1 Peter 5:6-11, NKJV)

So if you are not prepared to let Satan and his camp win over you or those you care for, let's proceed to the battleplan itself. It is not a human plan but given by Yahweh himself to secure our victory.

Firstly we identify all that stands up against Yahweh is of the enemy. Any words spoken to set us up against Him or His Word are to be counted as treason, in the same way the serpent tricked Eve to believe God was a liar and not to be counted upon. In order to be able to discern we need to study what Yahweh actually says and find out all we can about who He is, and rely upon His Ruach to confirm it to us as our trust is built progressively more firmly on His statutes. The underlying current is that Yahweh is genuine love and the adversery will always try to plant false love that finally will ruin us. Actually we should always be looking up, and avoid looking down as Hecate and her likes will have us do.

After having spotted the enemy, it is time to fight. But make sure you have the armour Yahweh has made for such battle:

"Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand. Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place, and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace. In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit (Ruach), which is the word of God. And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the saints" (Eph 6:13-18).

To have a set of prayers to say when casting out demons please have a look at our Deliverance Homepage which covers that in more detail.

"Jesus (Yah'shua) replied, "I tell you the truth, everyone who sins is a slave to sin. Now a slave has no permanent place in the family, but a son belongs to it forever. So if the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed" (John 8:34-36).

If you know that someone is under demonic influence, or you recognize this enough to identify the problem in yourself, prayer is never a waste of time, nor is scripture study, besides there are reliable brothers and sisters all over the world who will rejoice in helping. Please don't hesitate to contact us.

As I said earlier, getting rid of demons is a vital step in the journey. It makes a person able to have the scales taken off his or her eyes, but after that it is not over. To see means learning a lot of things.. Things are most likely rather different from how one imagines them to be when one is blind. But it is worth it. Once walking in reality and experiencing it the way it really is becomes what one is used to, it is easy and wonderful. And all along the way Yahweh will hold your hand and carry you where you are incapable of walking yourself.

The day may be very different from the night, but it is far richer and the dangers are easy to see. Light is a blessing, please clasp it with both hands and rejoice in His kingdom. Halelu-Yah!
