1. A Solar-Only Calendar
The first solar calendar can be traced back to the first Anti-Messiah (Antichrist), Nimrod, and all subsequent solar calendars - which promote sun-worship and honour Satan thereby - find their point-of-origin with him. It is Satan who has caused man to break Yahweh's appointed times and so direct worship toward himself. Today the majority of the world keeps the Western Catholic Gregorian Calendar which is solar-only. The true Calendar is luni-solar.
2. All Months Contain Either 30, 31, 27 or 28 Days
Yahweh's original calendar consisted of exactly 30 day-long months and never 21, 27 or 28 days. In the days of the flood when the earth was in upheaval, or possibly later in the days of Hezekiah when the sun moved back 10°, the moon ceased orbiting the earth in a clean 30 day-long period but a fraction of a day less. This means that there are now either 29 or 30 days in a month following the biblical rules governing observation of the moon for setting the beginning of each month. In the final restoration of all things, the 30 day period of the moon will be re-established.
3. A Year is 365 Days Long
Before the flood (or possibly later in Hezekiah's day) there were 360 days in a year (12 x 30-day months) but today there are 354 biblical days in a year with 384 biblical days approximately every 3 years. This extra time is not 'added' when man wants it added but when the Two Witnesses (the Sun and the Moon) both declare this time. This has nothing to do with the sun's orbit or periodicity which is ~365¼ days because Yahweh's calendar is not solar but luni-solar.
4. Days Begin and End at either Midnight or Sunset
Jews and most Messianics believe that days begin and end at sunset whereas those who follow the modern pagan Roman-derived Gregorian Calendar believe they do so at midnight. Some Messianic translations deliberately mutilate some Bible texts to 'fit' in with this pre-conceived sunset teaching as did the original Masoretes in one or two places to 'harmonise' Scripture with Pharisaic doctrine. The ancient Israelites and the first Christians/Messianics observed the beginning and end of each day at sunrise.
5. Months Begin at the Sighting of the First Crescent Moon
Ever since their long exposure to paganism in the Babylonian Exile, the Judahite leaders, who crystallised out into the Pharisee sect which became modern Judaism from which Messianic Jews have obtained their traditions, have embraced many pagan doctrines such as establishing the beginning of the month by observing the first crescent moon. Unfortunately this non-biblical system of reckoning the beginning of the month can be as much as 1-3 days late. The New Moon is always calculated from the conjunction.
6. The Moon is "Sick" and Has No Part of the Calendar
The idea that the moon is 'sick' is a pagan one and specifically the pagans referred to 29 day-long months as 'sick' because they 'should' have been 30 days long. Pagan sun-worshippers took this view from different places all over the world. The moon is not 'sick', it remains in perfect working order for calendar calculations and is so ordained by Yahweh (Ps.104:19).
7. There is No Such Thing as a 13th Month
Our modern Roman (Gregorian) calendar contains only 12 months with the earliest Romulus version of the Roman Calendar (753 BC) had only 10 months with 304 days in each year. Whilst there are 12 months in a typical year, a 13th month is intercalcated around every third year, as shown in the Book of Ezekiel where the prophet completes one particular annual prophetic cycle of 430 days by lying on his right side for 390 days and on his right for 40.
7. New Year's Day Begins 16 March
Because Jerusalem Has 12 Hours of Daylight
This minority Messianic teaching not only uses the invalid Roman Gregorian Solar Calendar but twists a passage in John 11:9 that speaks of a 12 hour day. The ancients used sundials, not modern clocks, and sundials are divided into 12 equal parts, each division being called an 'hour'. This means that each day, no matter what season (spring, summer, autumn or winter), was divided into 12 equal parts from sunrise to sunset, so that a 'winter hour' was shorter than a 'summer hour'. Biblical hours did not consist of 60-minute or 3,600-second chunks of time!
Some misguided messianics take this error even further and then claim the Sabbath is only 12 hours long so that the night period is not 'sabbath'. However, the Bible says there were 4 night 'watches' or 'shifts' consisting of 4 shifts of watchmen or guards. The night division of time was calculated by observing the movement of the moon and stars in the night sky.
There is no Scriptural evidence anywhere that a 12 hour Roman-type day started the year.
9. Psalm 104:19 Says the Sun Fixes Holy Days When It Says the Moon Does
"The moon marks off the seasons, and the sun knows when to go down" (Ps.104:19, NIV).
"He appointed the yaraei'ach (moon) for mo'adim (appointments, holy days); the shemesh (sun) knoweth the place of its going down" (Teh./Ps.104:19, OJB)
This passage makes it absolutely clear, without any room for doubt, that you cannot discard the moon in calculating any holy day, including the Sabbath! The moon rules them all. We do not need to rewrite it to satisfy Roman Sunday-worshippers and Jewish solar sabbatarians.
10. Sabbath Teachings in the Books of Enoch & Jubilees
Take Precedence over Bible Sabbath Teachings
Whatever the actual origins of these pseudepigraphical books, the versions extant today contradict Yahweh's Word, the Bible, over and over again. These books, if used at all, can only be looked at as a history book. And just as a history book, they can only be used as a 3rd or 4th witness. If you take these books, or a historical text, over Yahweh's Word, then you are teaching man made doctrines. If historical sources contradict the Word, they must be discarded. This also applies to the Book of Jasher which promulgates a false Sabbath.
Do not accept a teaching because of the presumed or claimed authority of any man, group, church or religion. If it does not square with the Scriptures, it must be rejected. This applies equally to the true calendar as it does to the doctrine of salvation by faith. Running around embracing the teachings of the Romans or Talmudic Jews concerning the calendar is no different from running around embracing the teachings of the Mormons or Jehovah's Witnesses concerning salvation.
All ten errors listed here stem from the false 'solar-only calendar' which can easily be shown to be false again and again, for the simple reason it contradicts the Scriptures again and again. No matter with how much sophisticated the justification for their use is spun, the Bible will have nothing to do with 'Saturn's Day'(Saturday - Jewish Sabbath), 'Sun Day' (Sunday - Roman Christian 'Lord's Day'), Freia's Day (Friday - Muslim Sabbath), Jewish postponement rules, 'moon-only' systems, 'sun-only' systems or other false pagan calendars.
