NORWAY'S COMING
FINANCIAL CATASTROPHE
A Vision
No doubt many of our readers have been reading with interest, if not alarm, about the financial reverses that hit Asia in October and which briefly touched our European and American shorelines before supposedly fading out.
The leading article of the 30 October-5 November 1997 edition of The European (No.390, p.5) comments:
"This week has more in common - ominously - with [the Wall Street Crash of] 1929 than with [the Black Monday of] 1987...Europe must brace itself for the unpleasant prospect that it could herald an unexpected world recession which would not leave our [European] continent unscathed...The outlook is now very different from what happened in the 1987 aftermath....
"[There is] an errie similarily to 70 years ago. The Great Depression of the 1930s began in the late 1920s on the periphery of the global economy. It was caused, among other things, by overproduction of agricultural and primary products, whose prices collapsed. Export earnings slumped in Australia, New Zealand, South Africa, Canada and Argentina. Their current account balances plunged into deep deficit. They lost gold and retrenched. The exports of the industrial countries suffered and industrial production in America turned down in early 1929. Profits were squeezed before Wall Street, in the last phase of manic market euphoria, reached its peak on Tuesday 3 September 1929.
"For the five countries mentioned above, now read Thailand, Malaysia, Indonesia, the Philippines, Taiwan and Hong Kong. For primary and agricultural products read manufactured products. It is no accident that this week's stock-market slump also began at the periphery of the world economy, in the Pacific Rim....
"Now the dominoes are falling....Recession and currency depreciation in Asia have probably dealt [Japan] a mortal blow. The weak recoveries in France and Germany have also been export-led: they are now especially vunerable to a global downturn..."
Revelation from the Almighty
These are mere speculations but I believe there is more than a grain of truth in them.
About a year ago, whilst waiting for my rain at Son station in eastern Norway, I saw a dramatic vision which I have attempted to draw below:
In front of me was a pillar holding up a bridge, exactly as in the station. The sky turned a menacing black, thick and heavy as before a rain storm, save for a small area just above the horizon which was clear. Emerging from the blackness, like two giant arms, were two tornados, or twisters, which were slowly moving towards me. They were coming from the east and bore with them great destructive power. For some reason I knew they were portents of financial disaster -- two of them -- which would strike the Norwegian nation in quick succession at a time when Norway seemed invunerable to such things, riding as it was upon the crest of a great wave of economic prosperity and self-confidence.
At length a revelation came confirming my initial suspicion:
"I [the Lord] shall knock down the god of the Norwegians, yea, even material prosperity, by sending a financial crisis, for she hath worshipped mammon {money}, and loved gold and silver more than the Lord, her God" (NC&C 419:6).
The revelation explained that this punishment was also being sent to Norway for meddling in the affairs of Jerusalem and that the United States would suffer economic calamity later and permanently decrease as a world power.
Though I do not know what form this economic catastrophe will take, or when exactly it will come, I believe, in the light of recent economic rumblings in Asia, that it will not be long. And though this catastrophe will be perceived as a national calamity by the majority of Norwegians, it will in practice work for her blessing, bringing her back to a humble realisation of who she is before the Lord her God, who made her from being one of the poorest European countries before the war into being one of the richest after it. "The Lord gives and the Lord takes away" and everyone, not just Norwegians, need to remember that, and not take too much personal pride in what is, after all, the providence of God.
It is likely that Norway will not be the only country that suffers at this time. I expect the wind will be taken out of many a nation's sails. And if I am not mistaken, the result of this economic stability will be an even stronger Germany, and witness a shift of economic power from London, Tokyo and Washington to Berlin (see NC&C 279:11-12) which will mark the beginning of the Great Delusion that will see the emergence of a One World Dictatorship under the Antichrist, the Great Persecution of Christians everywhere, and the Return of our Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ.
Such thoughts will be dismissed by the majority of people as the fanciful ruminations of a small, insignificant group of religious nutcases who are divorced from the real world, as they suppose. Yet they ought to note, if they have not already done so before, that it was this same Church that accurately predicted the reunification of Germany at a time when such a thought was farthest from people's minds (NC&C 119), the break-up of Yugoslavia when the United States and Europe were saying that they would not recognise any secessionary states like Croatia and Slovenia (NC&C 267:2), the disappearance of other nations like the USSR (ibid.), the immenance of earthquakes in northern Europe at a time when geologists were saying that none would come for at least another century, many fulfilled local prophecies about its own people, and the like.
The images of stock-traders around the world, their faces buried in their hands in despair as the markets collapsed, is a relatively fresh picture in all our minds. The worst appears to be over and the world has returned to "normality". But has it? May we, in fact, be on the brink of another financial disaster like the one that rocked the world in 1929 and wiped out the money of many a nation? I suggest we are, and that people should prepare for rough times ahead. Norway, like many modern Western nations, has sorely angered God with her mass murder of the unborn (abortion), her mockery of fundamental, unchangeable, eternal moral truths (chastity, the sacredness of marriage, the abomination of homosexual practices), her mockery of the God who has so richly blessed her with oil and prosperity, governmental interference in the Lutheran Church (now split down the middle) and in the affairs of Israel, and much else besides.
Yet Norway is also a chosen land, which is why we came here in 1988 to begin the New Covenant work. It has a rich future ahead of it if only it wakes up, embraces her spiritual heritage and follows the teachings of such great men like Hauge, and puts aside sin. Norway thinks she has found her place in the world -- she hasn't. Her true place is yet to be revealed, if only she will receive it and cast aside the delusions of atheism, hedonism, occultism, social Darwinism, and all the other poisoned apples she has chosen to eat. Only then can she be saved. And that is something we all want.
