IMO, we learn by contrasting things and experiences which is why we are here in the first place. Life is, in a way, comparative. I am really grateful that I grew up in the Third World country and with parents who knew what deprivation was during war. Between these experiences I learned to be content with little. To this day I still relish with delight the times when I would sneak over to our servants' quarters and the cook would share a plain bowl of rice with me. That was my "candy/sweets" because we had little in the way of sweet things. I miss the simplicity of those days. We may actually get them here in the West without wanting them what with the unfolding (and probably deliberately planned) crisis so it would be wise to change our lifestyles in advance.
