In the days of Yah'shua the Torah (first 5 books of Moses) were studied once every seven years. Following the apostacy of Judea and their rejection of Messiah, the rabbis decreased this to once every three years. In the middle ages, the rabbis once again reduced it to once every year. Most Messianics have followed this rabbinical tradition ever since, leaving disciples little time to properly study the Prophets (Nevi'im), Writings (Ketuvim) and New Testament (B'rit Chadashah Scrtiptures).

Messianic Evangelicals follow the original seven year cycle. The following table, though designed for a one year study, may still be followed within a seven year cycle.
