The Sun, the Moon and the Stars (Parables, Metaphors, Philosophies)
Personal blog posted by Christian on February 23, 2009 at 11:30am
“A star is a massive, luminous ball of plasma that is held together by its own gravity. The nearest star to Earth is the Sun, which is the source of most of the energy on Earth. Other stars are visible in the night sky, when they are not outshone by the Sun.” – Wikipedia.
What can we liken YHWH to?
He is like the sun.
Israel is like the moon.
The gentiles are like the stars.
He is the source of all light and life; without Him is no light, no life, no breath, no earth, and no existence.
Israel is like the moon.
The difference between sunlight and moonlight is that all the light of the sun comes from the sun itself; whereas moonlight is a reflection of the sun.
Israel does not pretend to be the sun, instead she submits to YHWH, she is filled by His light; and out from the moon, shines the light of the sun.
By admitting that it is not the sun, the moon can be filled by the sun, and thus come closer to the sun than all the other heavenly bodies.
Israel lets herself be filled with His spirit, His light, and by being a container for His spirit and light, she is able to reflect this spirit and light outward, and project it to the world.
In this manner, Israel becomes a limb in His body, an appendage to Him, and a part of Him.
The gentiles are like the stars.
The goyim, the gentile nations, and Satan, all try to be the sun; they try to be a light and a sun unto themselves.
However, they end up as nothing more than distant stars.
They try to be the sun itself, but end up as miniscule parodies that give no helpful light individually.
No star has ever outshone the sun.
Yet, the gentile nations, under satanic influence, try to outshine, and even claim to be the sun; some go on to claim that there are multiple suns, or that they have a right to become the sun.
They attempt to copy His perfection, but never live up to the Original.
They attempt to copy the perfection of His light, but never succeed.
They are like the serpent, always shedding its skin, never satisfied with its current shape, always changing, yet claiming perfection.
Although the laws of men change every day, the governments of men claim perfection.
Although the traditions of men change everyday, men would follow the traditions of the multitude rather than the permanent, unchanging, prophetic and perfect feasts and memorials of YHWH.
And although the serpent casts of its skin, and changes its superficial appearance, it is still the same old snake; and as long as the laws, governments and traditions of men are based on the same old serpentine pattern, they will never compare with the eternal perfection of YHWH.
