Patriarchinity Chapter 6: Derived vs. Created
By Chris Jacob (Yaacov) Schaefer ©2009
Could it be that the image of humans gives us some hint or shadow about the nature of Elohim? First Elohim created Adahm, then Chawa was made from Ahdahm, and then after that point Chawa brought forth children.
Beresheeth /Genesis1:26-28
26 And Elohim said, "Let Us make man in Our image,
after Our likeness:
and let them have dominion over the
fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the
cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping
thing that creeps upon the earth."
27 So the Word of Elohim
created man in His own
image, in the image of Elohim He created him; male and
female He created them.
28 And Elohim blessed them, and Elohim said to them,
"Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth,
and
subdue it: and have dominion over the fish of the sea, and
over the fowl of the air, and over every living thing that
moves upon the earth."
It is indeed accurate to say the Chawa was derived from Ahdahm, because Ahdahm was already created beforehand. In fact this understanding is confirmed by Adahm.
Beresheeth /Genesis2:23
And Ahdahm said, "This is now bone of my bones, and
flesh of my flesh: she shall be called Isha, because she
was taken out of Ish."
Below is a passage which describes the pre-existance and proxy of Lewi within Avraham.
Ivrim / Hebrews 7:4-10
4 Now consider how great this man [Melech-Tzadik] was,
to whom even
the patriarch Avraham gave the tithe of the best.
5 And truly they that are of the sons of Lewi, who receive
the office of the Kohanim, have a command to take the
tithe from the people according to the Torah, that is,
from their Yisraelite brothers, even though they come out
of the loins of Avraham:
6 But he whose descent is not recorded in their
genealogies received the tithe from Avraham, and
blessed him that had the promises.
7 And without any contradiction the lesser is blessed by
the greater.
8 And here mortal men
receive the tithe; but there
he received them, of whom the Scripture says that he lives
continually.
9 And one might say, that through Avraham even Lewi,
who received the tithe, gave tithe.
10 For he was yet in the loins of his abba Avraham, when
Melech-Tzadik met him.
So there it is saying that Lewi (and Lewi’s children), who had not even yet been born, gave tithes to Melech-Tzadik because he (Lewi) was in Avraham’s loins. So Lewi (and Lewi’s children) existed within Avraham in some sort of capacity during Avraham’s life—even if by only half of his genes no less!
Let’s take a look at how Yehoushua pre-existed within Father YHWH.
Yochanan / John 16:27-28 (Yehoshua speaking)
27 "For the Father Himself loves you, because you have
loved Me, and have believed that I came out from within
YHWH.
28 I came out from the Father, and have come into the
world: again, I leave the world, and go back
to the Father."
First, notice Yehoshua repeats the idea twice, showing it’s importance. He came out from within Father YHWH, and He came out from the Father. Notice though that when he goes back to the Father, he does NOT go back into the Father, but he only goes back to the Father!
In the next two verses His disciples confirm what Yahushua just spoke:
Yochanan 16:29-30
29 His disciples said to Him, “See, now You speak in
pashat, and speak without drash.
30 Now we are sure that You know all things, and need
not that any man should ask You: by this we believe that
You came forth from within YHWH.”
The disciples understood that Yehoshua was speaking in a pashat sense: the most literal and direct meaning of what was being said, not drash (allegory). Also, Yehoshua was not redefining the term Father. He was speaking of coming out from within Father in the same sense that Lewi pre-existed within Avraham and eventually came out from Avraham.
We can all agree that YHWH is eternal. As seen in chapter 2, we also can also agree that the Ruach HaQodesh is a Being. Is there any Scriptural hint about the Ruach HaQodesh’s existence within YHWH?
Yehsayahu / Isaiah 43:10
10 You are My witnesses, says YHWH,
and My Eved
whom I have chosen: that you may know and believe Me,
and understand that I am He: before Me there
was no El formed, neither shall there be after Me.
“Formed” is the Hebrew word yawtsar, which is the same word used in Bereshith 2:7 When Elohim formed man from the dust—made something or someone living from something non-living.
Yes, there was no El formed from the non-living before YHWH, nor was there any El formed from the non-living after YHWH.
Now, Let’s compare that with Beresheeth / Genesis 2:22
22 And with the rib that YHWH Elohim had taken from
man, He made a woman, and brought her to the man.
In the Beresheeth passage, “made” is the Hebrew word bawnaw which can mean to build, repair, set (up), or derive. In this passage Elohim makes a living being from another living being. Notice that the Yeshayahu passage does not use the same word that was used in Bereshith 2:22, If the YHWH had wanted to eliminate the possiblility of bawnaw, he would have said “before Me there was no El yawtsar nor El bawnaw, neither shall there be after me.” But it does not say that. The familial term of “Son” is used when YHWH is referring to Yehoshua. The Son comes from the Father, yet always existed within the Father. Lewi came from Avraham, yet pre-existed within Avraham’s loins. There is no conflict whatsoever. Yehoshua’s eternality is strong and unmistakable because the Father is unmistakably eternal.
Shaul identifies the Ruach that Yehoshua and the Father give us as the Ruach of Chochmah.
Ephsiyah /Ephesians 1:17
17 That the Eloah of our Master Yehoshua the Moshiach, the
Abba of beauty, may give to you the Ruach of Chochmah
and revelation in the knowledge of Him:
Judging how in numerous other passages, the Ruach HaQodesh is spoken of as a Living Being, it is not a difficult thing to see that the Ruach’s name is Chochmah (Wisdom). Now before anyone thinks that it is unusual to have a noun for a name, think of all the people who have been named with words such as “Grace, “ Joy,” and “Charity.”
And so below we can see Chochmah’s existence before the earth was created.
Mishlei 8:22-23
22 YHWH possessed Me in the beginning [raysheeth] of His way,
before His works of old.
23 I was set up from everlasting, from the beginning,
before the earth was.
Possessed = kawnaw which means created by extension—or in other words, derived; but even more closely involved and intimate than bawnaw.
Set up = nawsak which means poured out like a libation.
Yeshayahu 48:16 (HRV)
Come you near unto Me, hear you this: From the beginning [roshe] I have not spoken in secret [say-ther]; from the time that She* was, there am I; and now the Master YHWH has sent me and his Ruach.
*“She”-- even though some translations have “it,” the literal Hebrew is equivalent to “She.”
Now some might conclude that the “she” may be referring to the earth. And that could make sense, since cities are also referred to as “she.” The only problem is the earth is not one of the objects mentioned in the sentence. The next candidates could be: “from the beginning”, and “secret.” Roshe (from the beginning) is a masculine word, so “She” cannot be referring to that. While say-ther (secret) can be masculine or feminine, it does not make any grammatical sense for “She” to be referring to say-ther /secret. So the only feminine word left is Ruach! Look above and notice the similarities of “From the beginning” in the Yeshayahu passage to “from the beginning” in the Mishlei passage. So now let’s take a look at the very beginning:
Beresheeth / Genesis 1:1
1 In the beginning Elohim Aleph-Taf created from nothing
the heavens and the earth.
Who was there in the very beginning who created the heavens and the earth? Elohim Aleph Taf : Yehoshua (Gilyahna/Revelation 22:13). Who also was there at the beginning?
Beresheeth / Genesis 1:2
2 And the earth was without form, and void; and darkness
was upon the face of the deep. And the Ruach of Elohim
fluttered upon the face of the waters.
Before the creation of the heavens and earth, the Ruach HaQodesh was already there fluttering over the face of the deep.
Mishlei 8:22-30 (The Ruach of Chocmah speaking)
22 YHWH derived Me in the beginning of His way,
before His works of old.
23 I was poured out like a libation from everlasting, from the beginning,
before the earth was.
24 When there were no depths, I was brought forth; when
there were no fountains abounding with water.
25 Before the mountains were settled, before the hills was
I brought forth:
26 While as yet He had not made the earth, or the fields,
or the highest part of the dust of the earth.
27 When He prepared the heavens, I was there: when
He set a compass upon the face of the depth:
28 When He established the clouds above: when He
strengthened the fountains of the deep:
29 When He gave to the sea His decree, that the waters
should not pass His commandment: when He appointed
the foundations of the earth:
30 Then I was by Him, as one brought up with Him: and I
was daily His delight, rejoicing always before Him;
Brought forth is khool which means to dance by twisting and whirling in a circular or spiral manner. What an amazing glimpse of how the Ruach HaQodesh was derived from YHWH!
So both Yehoshua Alef Taf and the Ruach HaQodesh eternally existed within YHWH, and came forth from YHWH in eternity past before the earth ever was.
