Riding a Tiger
Learning to Dismount the Beast of Sin
"He who rides a tiger cannot dismount", says an interesting and famous Chinese proverb.
I got to thinking about that last night and of ways this saying is applicable in life. Of course, if you ever did manage to get on the back of a tiger you could never dismount because if you did, you'd be eaten. Thus someone, for example, who gets involved in a crime syndicate can't 'leave' because he knows too much. It becomes the tiger he is riding. If he tried, he might be snuffed out to keep him quiet.
Sin, and its addictions, is a bit like that too. Once you jump on its bandwaggon you are sent hurtling into the darkness and jumping off it can seem like a scary prospect. Where will you land? How will you land? Will you survive? Will you be overwhelmed? Will the tiger consume you alive?
There is no risk-free way to dismount the tiger of sin without Yah'shua (Jesus). The chances are that if you try to do so in your own strength you'll find yourself stuck on the tiger because of shere terror anyway. You may have raced away in sin and bad addictive behaviour on that tiger but there is no carnal beast Yah'shua (Jesus) cannot catch up with and overtake...taking you with Him if you want Him to:
"[Yah'shua/Jesus] is also able to save to the uttermost those who come to Elohim (God) through Him" (Heb.7:25, NKJV).
Whether unbeliever or lapsed believer, you can still be saved!
