Want to Meet Yahweh?
He is Waiting Right Now
Continued from Part 4
There is never a better time to meet with Yahweh than right now. The reason this is true is that there is an enemy actively working to prevent you from doing so, and the longer you wait, the more often you postpone, the less likely you are going to make a stab at it.
I would not want you, moreover, to take this whole business casually. Setting conditions doesn't work. If you want to meet the Most High, El Elyon, you have to let Him set the conditions. He's not one of a zillions websites you can quickly and casually scan for entertainment purposes, or someone you can chat with on-line at a convenient distance, or even write a letter to and so conceal much of what's actually going on in your heart. To meet God is a very personal, intimate, one-to-one encounter. And it requires a bit of effort on your part.
Someone going out on a serious date puts a lot effort getting ready and in behaving right to impress the boy or girl. But one thing you can't do with Yahweh is 'impress' Him. For one thing, He sees straight through you because He knows absolutely everything about you. He, after all, designed and made you, and foresaw every choice you would make ahead of time and forsees every choice you will yet make. He knows how that brain and heart of yours works down to the minutest detail. You'll not be able to fool Him for one second.
What do you imagine an encounter with Yahweh is like? What do you suppose He wants? And what did He send His Son to do specifically that He did not do directly Himself? Using an illustration from wardrobe maintenance, He said:
"No one sews a piece of unshrunk cloth on an old garment" (Mark 2:21, NKJV).
Yah'shua (Jesus) was not sent to planet earth by His Father Yahweh to patch up an old religion, or merely to mend a hole here and there, or beautify a spot here and there - He came to make all things new. The reason Yahweh wants to meet with you is do deliver you from yourself and from the fallen Adamic nature that constantly gets you into trouble and which consistently leaves you unsatisfied and restless. To do that, He sent His Son to give you a complete fix-up, change you completely inside, so as to equip you for an entirely new kind of living, one that brings peace and satisfaction.
When Yah'shua (Jesus) saves, delivers and renews someone like you and me, He does not purpose merely to mend us up a little here and there, fix this or that problem in our lives, or do a spiritual patch-up job, covering the odd spot up here and there, closing up tears in the fabric of our character with strong patches of the new cloth of grace. His interest is far, far larger, and much grander. Gospel work is not patchwork. Yah'shua (Jesus) doesn't sew on new pieces. He completely strips the old garment off us until we are stark naked, spiritually-speaking, and then He weaves a brand new garment without a seam throughout.
If you have ever tried to reform your character by your own efforts, you may achieve a little. But no matter what 'good' you do, sin still remains in the very fibre of our natural make-up, and the blemishes on our soul will forever spoil whatever good work we think we may have done. An encounter with Yahweh has nothing to do with having a nice chat, being impressed that He's there, and then saying, "Nice to have met You!" Yahweh is not interested in a casual relationship. He wants to give you an entirely new inner being - a new heart - so that the beauty of any changes you may choose to make will not only be real but permanent!
A mother once lost a lovely child - her one and only precious child. To keep her heart, mind and hands occupied in some way so as not to dwell on the grief and pain of the loss of her precious treasure, and thus fill the empty hours, she picked up a photograph of her child and ran her fingers over it. As she worked over the surface of the picture, the features became almost lifelike and she lost herself in her memories. The picture was then put away for a few days and when she looked for it again, the eyes of the child were dimmed and the face spoiled with ugly greasy blotches. Patiently she went over the photograph a second time and the bewitching beauty of the child returned again. A second time, she put put the picture away, and again the blotches appeared. There was something wrong in the paper on which the photograph had been taken. There were chemicals lurking in it which in some way spoiled the delicate colours, and no amount of repainting could correct the faults.
So it is with out lives. No outside reform is ever enough, for all the while the heart is poisoned and evil within and it sends up its constant stream of pollution, staining the fairest beauty which is a human life. The only reason Yahweh wants to meet with us is to make a change in our hearts that is so permanent and so complete that once accomplished, we become entirely new creatures and able to meet with Him every day! Because once that change is made, you will want desperately to meet with Him every day. He will become the main priority of your life to which you subject your will, dreams, hopes, and ambitions, knowing that what He wants is what is absolutely best for you.
That's why He wants to meet you. Are you willing to meet Him on those terms? If you are, and you are determined that this is what you want, nothing in heaven or hell will stop you from receiving this gift of salvation from His Son. But if you want anything else...well, you will be disappointed. You see, Yahweh isn't in the patchwork quilt business. He wants to rebuit you inside completely - and gloriously.
I went to him on 30 March 1970 for my refit. I've never been the same since and could never go back. Hallelu-Yah!
