1 December 2010 (Revee/Shavu'ot) Day #260, 5934 AM
Your Country
Where Do You Actually Belong?
It is raining outside and dusk approaches. Pitter-patter on the windows. Prisoner in a small cold room on alien soil. Yes, alien, because it is not Zion. It formed me, but now Yahweh is re-forming me, to be a citizen elsewhere. Don't I want that? Yes, most assuredly. There are many childhoods to pass through, and the soil - the land of ones birth and upbringing - is one of them. Our struggle is no less than that of the Israelites leaving the soil of Egypt which both birthed and oppressed them. Let us distinguish between birth and adulthood, and not forget what Egypt really is.
There are pretty red flowers on my windowsill, reminding me that Yahweh's glory is being used to gild the cage. I'll not forget where I am.
