The Set-Apart Recipe
The Ingredients You Need to Know
"To those who have obtained like precious faith with us by the righteousness of our Elohim and Deliverer Yah'shua the Messiah: Grace and peace be multiplied to you in the knowledge of Elohim and of Yah'shua our Master, as His divine power has given to us all things that pertain to life and godliness, through the knowledge of Him who called us by glory and virtue, by which have been given to us exceedingly great and precious promises, that through these you may be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust" (2 Peter 1:1-4, NKJV).
We seem to be a family of cooks and lovers of cuisine. Every day my children are looking for new recipes on line and watching YouTube clips to learn the latest cullinary technique.
But the trouble with new recipes is that they can go wrong, particularly if you don't follow instructions precisely and try to tweek the ingredients to make the dish a little 'extra special'.
The apostle Peter has given us a very clear recipe for sound Christian living. There are many ingredients but the two main ones are:
- 1. Yahweh's Resurrection Power in Messiah Yah'shua (2 Pet.1:3); and
- 1. Yahweh's Promises to the faithful (2 Pet.1:4).
As we thoroughly blend His power and promises together into our believing and living, we will become more and more like Messiah. There are some other essential ingredients which we also have to add into our life of active trusting (faith) to make sure everything works right and they are as follows:
- 1. Virtue;
- 2. Knowledge of Torah;
- 3. Self-control;
- 4. Perseverance;
- 5. Godliness;
- 6. Brotherly (and sisterly) kindness;
- 7. Love - Ahavah/Agapé (2 Pet.1:5-7)
This is a guaranteed recipe for fruitfulness for the Messiah and His Kingdom! Not only that, but they will prevent us from stumbling in our walk (v.8). Omit any of these vital ingredients from the heavenly recipe is to be shortsighted, blind, and may mean we have forgotten what it is Yah'shua did for us:
"For he who lacks these things is shortsighted, even to blindness, and has forgotten that he was cleansed from his old sins" (2 Peter 1:8-9, NKJV).
Please don't change Yahweh's ingredients and then blame His recipe when things go wrong. Rather, follow His instructions meticulously because His recipe always beings spiritual success!
