Can Yahweh Use Me?
A Lesson From the Life of Ezra
I am of the firm belief that no man or woman can ever really be satisfied with himself or with life unless he feels he has been useful. Everyone who has met the resurrected Messiah and been born again of the Ruach haQodesh (Holy Spirit) has a strong desire to serve and be useful. But what if you feel you are being underutilised by God? What should you do?
Ezra was a Judahite official with a mission from his masters. We learn:
"On the first of the first month (Aviv 1, New Year's Day) [Ezra] started from Babylon and on the first day of the fifth month he arrived in Jerusalem, for upon him was the good hand of his Elohim (God)" (Ezra 7:9, Amp.V.)
In other words, he was favoured by Yahweh and being blessed by Him. What was it that so endeared Him to the Most High?
"For Ezra had prepared and set his heart to seek the Torah (Teachings, Law) of Yahweh, [to inquire for it and of it, to require and yearn for it], and to do and teach in Israel its statutes and its ordinances" (v.10, Amp.V.)
And as we know, Yahweh used Ezra mightily. Elohim can use anyone whose heart craves a knowledge of Him and His Word! What did Ezra accomplish having begun with a passionate thirst and hunger for the Torah? He turned the homes of the Covenant Nation back from heathendom to Yahweh - and he did so standing in the pouring rain! How many modern believers would disperse if listening to a teacher outside and it began to rain? Not these ones because they were captivated by the Word! Ezra was not merely righteous but he was "uncompromisingly righteous". He would not deviate by a faction of an inch, to the left or the right, of Torah! He worshipped Yahweh-Elohim, our Heavenly Father, Who is not merely just and righteous, but "rigidly just and righteous" (1 Ki.8:32; Ezra 9:15).
The world and lazy believers may despise or criticise you for being "rigid" in the way of Ezra. But what is more important? Seeking the approval of sinners or seeking the blessings of Yahweh and being useful and fulfilled?
Do you feel underutilised by Yahweh? Then plunge into His Word and desire it with your whole being, from alef to taw - from Genesis to Revelation- and get into pattern and into the heart of Yah'shua our Messiah. There is no better foundation!
