Which is exactly that the Communist East Germans said and did too. Most don't realise that the 'German Democratic Republic' was a multi-party state. That's right, there were Liberals and Conservatives who had representatives in the Volkskammer though the Social Democrats were forced to merge with the Communists to form the Socialist Unity Party (SED) which was, of course, communist. In outward form, on the surface, it looked like a Western democracy. However, it was not a true parliamentary democracy since the foundations were all atheistic-communistic and the country was a police state with half the population working for STASI, the secret police. The other parties were just window-dressing.

Atheistic totalitarianism, whether of the fascist, communist or liberal bourgoisie (EU-type) varieties, will never win a popular vote when the people are properly informed. Their only hope of success is by deception. The European Union 'nations' deceive themselves when they still believe they are free. As of the beginning of this year, the EU effectively became a country and the 'countries' within it became demoted to provinces. We still call ourselves countries just as Stalinist North Korea calls itself a 'democracy' (Peoples' Democratic Republic of Korea - PDRK) and as Communist East Germany did also (the German 'Democratic' Republic - GDR/DDR). However, these are just words, and they are deceptive words at that. The European Union is certainly not a democratic state - it is actually a dictatorship pretending to be a democracy. And Sweden and my own country, the UK, very stupidly voted to become a part of it, believing the lies of our corrupt politicians.

Actually, we should not be surprised. Totalitarianism in the political sphere, where there is no authentic Theocracy, is the hallmark of the demonic, and the world system is hardly Christian. Scripture foretells a time before the return of the Messiah of a worldwide dictatorship in which the blood of believers is systematically spilled. And we have already seen plenty of forerunners of this final system in the last century with new ones on the rise in ours. Beware of all 'Unions', European, North American, or otherwise, whose pretext is to prevent war and redistribute wealth fairly. For one thing, stopping war between nations in a conventional military fashion is no boon if that war is turned inwardly onto civilians and is waged by oppressive governments. What's the difference? Humans still suffer and die. Governments still 'remove' unwanted citizens only they murder them discretely. Never forget the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics and the millions murdered within its borders in peace time. And those who were not tortured and shot disappeared in psychiatric institutions which were little more than extensions of the Soviet prison service.

Your ordinary man and woman does not want totalitarianism. His/her problem is that he has been asleep for such a long time that he hasn't noticed all the thousands of little, gradual changes that have been made all around him that have been moving his country in the direction of dictatorship. The architects of the New World Order, as some like to call it, have realised that the best way to get the masses to play along with them is to do things so slowly that no-one will notice their trickery while dangling lots of carrots along the way. Not only that, the people will back them thinking that they are still free. By the time they wake up to what's actually going on, it will be too late, because the democratic process will have been so totally hijacked (in the name of democracy) that their vote won't count for anything anymore and they will find themselves branded criminals for raising a critical voice.

We are the victims of our own complacency and indifference and cannot blame God for the new totalitarian oppression that is arising. Slothful inaction on behalf of righteousness is as great a sin as wicked action. The sleepers are as guilty as the proactive sinners. That is what happens when you abrogate your responsibilities to be free men and women. When the people standby and barely wink as their children are abducted from their parents by the state because they homeschool (to name a current example) then there is something seriously wrong with the hearts of the people. They have become anaethetised to injustice. And the only way they can become de-anaesthetised and recover consciousness is to stop taking the anaesthetic.

So what is the anaesthetic and how do we stop taking it? The anaesthetic is the belief that there is no God and no purpose in life other than to live life to the full for ones own personal gain before life ebbs away and we cease to exist. The anaesthetic is that Me - Number #1 - is what matters most. It's a huge and diabolical lie. The Emet or Truth is that we exist to live for the true God - Yahweh - and that in so doing He takes care of all our needs, giving us peace, contentment and inner happiness no matter what others are doing. In existing for and serving Him, we respond by serving others and bringing to them the truths that have brought us liberation and freedom of soul. Since life is so much bigger than our short mortal span, we are given a perspective that gives us meaning that stretches into the eternities.

To stop taking the anaesthetic means inviting God's Instrument for Liberation into our hearts and following its Rule. That Instrument is Yah'shua the Messiah or Jesus Christ. You can read His salvation message here. Once you have received the Instrument of your Deliverance you will literally and dramatically experience a waking up. Everything will change. You will see everything differently. You will be shocked by what you once had been. Nothing will be the same again. You will discover, amongst other things, that in your former condition that you had become dehumanised without your even being aware of it. In your new condition you will discover what it is to be truly human! You will live life again, but a totally different kind of life, and a life that will never end!
