There was once a man who went in search of the perfect pudding. He was unwilling to settle for anything less than the best. Then one day he found what he thought was the perfect pudding and was terribly excited. He went and asked the most famous chef in the world if this was indeed the perfect pudding and was assured by him that it was. His joy knew no bounds and he at once set out into all the world to tell everyone that he had found the perfect pudding.

One day, whilst in a far land, he met a pudding connoisseur who asked him about this famous pudding which by now the whole world had come to hear of. The connoisseur asked if he might see the pudding, whereupon the owner carefully and reverently brought it out of its silver pudding dish. The connoisseur asked: "How do you know this is the perfect pudding?" To which the man replied: "I have it on the best authority that it is so from the greatest pudding maker in the world." To which the connoisseur replied: "I have tasted more puddings than anyone in the world and I can tell you just by looking at yours that it is the most revolting pudding I have ever seen!"

The pudding owner was too shocked to answer at first but after he had calmed his nerves somewhat, blurted out: "Who are you to say that my pudding is revolting since you have never even tasted it!" Whereupon the man finally understood, ate a spoonful of the pudding and found out the truth for himself.
