1995: A Critical Year?
NCW 17, March 1995
Q. Do you think that 1995 will be a critical year? The war in Russian Chechenya, the Kobe earthquake, the interminable Bosnian war, the massacres in Israel, the public mutilation of thieves on TV in Iraq, the flooding in Germany, Holland, France, and Italy, the near-collapse of the Mexican economy... all seem to suggest that 1995 will be a bad year. What do you think?
These are, in my opinion, but "birth pains" of far worse things to come. Expect more. We could be in for alot of big surprises, unexpected catastrophes, and the like. There is no doubt that the end time is "building up" in lots of seeminlg isolated and unrelated incidences. We are being warned to repent and order our lives before the day of repentance is past. It is in the midst of chaos that the Antichrist will step onto the scene just as Hitler did. Particularly watch out for more economic chaos.
Though the Antichrist won't necessarily be able to exploit earthquakes, he can certainly exploit economic depression and wars. He will offer financial security and peace...at a price. Just wait and see. Though the year 2000 may not be the end-time, there is no doubt that the New Agers are making a big thing of it and will try to use it as an opportunity to push their programs ahead more affirmatively.
I have been surprised how violence has suddenly rocketed in Oslo this last year. I was expecting a far longer period of time -- at least 10 years -- before we would see such conditions. Almost overnight Oslo has become a dangerous place with Maffia gangs, an explosion in armed bank robberies, etc.. This, in one of the most peaceful countries in the world, should serve as a sober warning.
Is 1995 critical? Yes, and every other year in which the Gospel is not preached and souls are not reached for Christ. Time is running out. The questions is: have we done our duty, and will we do better? Consider that question most of all.
