Entering into Life
Keeping the Commandments
by TorahMan
"Now behold, one came and said to Him, 'Good Teacher, what good thing shall I do that I may have eternal life?' So He said to him, 'Why do you call Me good? No one is good but One, that is, Elohim. But if you want to enter into life, keep the commandments" (Matthew 19:16-17 NKJV).
How does one enter into life? They do so by keeping the commandments of Yahweh. I fear in our deliverance ministry, some people have been overwhelmed thinking they need to be 'Theophosticised' in order to be healed of all their hurts. This is a lie. All we need to do is trust Yah'shua (Jesus) and do as He says and we will be delivered of our issues. This does not mean that things such as Theophostic are not important (they are particularly important where deeply imbedded lies are), but they become secondary. The most successful deliverances I have witnessed come about when people turn their lives around in active service to Yahweh and fulfill the two Great Commands, to love Yahweh with all their might, mind, soul and strength and their neighbours as themselves (Mark 12:29-31). This requires absolute surrender and acknowledgement that His ways are right and our's are wrong, a death-blow to pride.
Of course, this cannot be without a foundation. 1 John 5:2-3 describes our love for Yahweh and man as keeping the commandments. This is where Torah comes into play. Within Torah, we have a whole set of laws that tell us how to love one another. We are never without the excuse that we do not know what to do. We are to work six days and rest the seventh (Exodus 23:12). Yahweh tells us everything we must do in those days so that we are without excuse.
Likewise, we have leaders we are obedient to. Hebrews 13:17 tells us to obey our leaders in Messiah because they must give an account. Where their words do not contradict Yahweh's revealed Word in the Scriptures, we follow them wholeheartedly. This may rank of cultism to the world, but the world was never like us. In fact, I have found that through absolute and total surrender, I have been very happy and have been protected. Indeed, they do "watch for your souls" (Hebrews 13:17).
So it boils down to this. First, we have faith in Messiah (Ephesians 2:8-10). Then, we obey all He says so that we might enter into this life. Then we obey what our leaders say. It is only as we do these things that we remain in His grace, because those who do not do as He says will be cut off from His love (John 15:10).
And what precisely is the love of Yah'shua (Jesus)?
"This is My commandment, that you love one another as I have loved you. Greater love has no one than this, than to lay down one's life for his friends" (John 15:12-13 NKJV).
Our love for others is to be completely sacrificial. This is true life, to die to ourself and be resurrected again. When we love others as Yah'shua (Jesus) first loved us, we will die to ourself so that we can serve both Yahweh and our fellow man.
This is true life, to do and believe all that Yahweh says. When we enter into this life and keep His commandments, we will find them to be delicious indeed and satisfying to the soul. In Yah'shua's Name, amein.
