The Writing is
on the Wall
s the strains of Auld Lang Syne die down the world looks forward to a new year and the last one of a century. Bleary-eyed revellers return home, many drunk, not knowing what it is they have been celebrating. Here in Scandinavia millions of dollars worth of fireworks have been let off, houses have been burned to the ground, and children have been seriously burned. Even Christians join in the merry-making, few seriously considering what it is they are doing as they celebrate yet another pagan festival and make New Year resolutions which everyone knows few will be able to keep. Like the "season of good will", when the pagan festival is over, the good will vanishes like a thief in the night as do the good resolutions.
999: A Thousand Years Ago
One thousand years ago it was the year 999. There was great excitement in Catholic Europe as the new century approached. There was, it might at first have appeared, even a moral and spiritual revolution. As the year 1000 approached pious Christians, fearful that the new millennium might herald the return of Christ and the end of the world, decided to put their houses in order. People began to pay off their debts, ask forgiveness of their neighbours for wrong-doing, stopped fornicating and committing adultery, and poured out their religious fervour by more solemnly decicating themselves to the Virgin Mary, to Christ, the Saints, angels, the Pope, and the Holy Catholic Church. There was, it seemed, a "revival" going on.
The year 999 passed by and Catholic Europe went on her merry way. The year 1000 brought no sudden end of the world, no return of Christ. The "revival" fizzled out in one night, the resolutions to be better Christians vanished, the drunkeness, adultery, fornication , and indeed the whole gammut of sins, continued as before...as though there had been no year 999 at all.
The occultists paid note too. At that time they were, for the most part, in secret hiding, fearful for their lives in what was a one-religion conglomorate of states. Fascinated by numbers as they were, they did not fail to note that the number 999 was also 666 upside down. Occultists -- including satanists -- are always looking for favourable signs in which they believe that through magic great changes can be effected on the earth.
1999: A Thousand Years Later
It is the belief of the New Covenant Church that the same kind of fervour that marked 999 in Catholic Europe will mark 1999 in our post-Christian, occultic world. For the misguided rabble of New Agers 1999 marks the doorstep to a totally new spiritual age in which our world passes from a "Piscean" way of looking at things to an "Aquarian" one. They believe that the Age of Aquarius will mark the final decline and death of Christianity which was preparatory for the New Age. And they would be dead right for the Roman Catholic Church was the forerunner of the New Age. They are different forms of the ancient spirit of Babylon which was set up by the antichrist Nimrod to oppose the true religion and laws of Yahweh-Elohim, the Creator and Redeemer of the world. Thus we will see, I believe, the ever rapidly absorption of counterfeit forms of Christianity into the occultic, New Age paradigm. A great separation is taking place amongst us -- and indeed has been for a while now -- but is going to accellerate rapidly in the last year of this 'Piscean' century.
The Death of Christianity?
The ultimate year of the 20th century is going to be marked by alot of religious fervour, most of it false. There are going to be plenty of nutcases around and probably not a few deparate actions -- mass suicides, terrorism, and plenty of excuses by those in power to take more power for themselves. It would not surprise me if a number of "messiahs", "spiritual masters", other supposed spiritual super-men will announce themselves as saviours of the world. It would not surprise me if we witness alot more UFO activity and even some sort of contact -- it is possible. But what will definitely not happen is that true Christianity will die.
1999 is going to be decision time for many unbelievers and for almost as many believers caught up in false Christendom. Something special is going to happen this year -- an obscure and virtually unheard of work is suddenly going to be propelled into the forefront of the Christian debate --take a look at our Revival Page. Already independent witnesses are being given revelations, visions and dreams about this special revival who live in Norway, the USA, and Sweden. Where will it begin? In the little Kingdom of Norway. We do not know how (save that it will not be done by the planning or works of men), only that the Lord will do it in His own way and at His own time.
We invite all sincere Bible-believing Christians who are seeking a genuine outpouring of God's Spirit (as opposed to all the phoney non-biblical manifestations in the charismatic churches) to join with us in prayer so that 1999, inspite of all the evil that will surely manifest this year, will become a special one to the glory of God. We are ALL going to have to readjust our thinking, behaviour and practice in light of the truth which the Lord is about to manifest which will reveal itself in Norway and spread far and wide to many nations.
