The Divine Ascent
A Message to the Firstborn Scattered in the World
"Then Moses went up to God, and the Lord called to him from the mountain...After Moses had gone down the mountain to the people, he consecrated them, and they washed their clothes. The he said to the people, 'Prepare yourselves for the third day. Abstain from sexual relations.'...The Lord descended to the top of Mount Sinai and called Moses to the top of the mountain. So Moses went up and the Lord said to him, 'God down and warn the people so they do not force their way through to see the Lord and many of them perish. Even the priests, who approach the Lord, must consecrate themselves, or the Lord will break out against them. Moses said to the Lord, 'The people cannot come up Mount Sinai, because you yourself warned us, "Put limits around the mountain and set it apart as holy."' The Lord replied, 'Go down, and bring Aaron up with you. But the priests and the people must not force their way through to come to come up to the Lord, or he will break out against them.' So Moses went down to the people and told them." (Ex.19:3,14-15,20-25 NIV).
Here is wisdom if you will receive it. The mountain is a symbol of eternal continuance (Deut.33:15; Hab.3:6) and stability (Is.54:10). It is the place where God meets man (Judges 5:5; Ps.97:5; Is.64:1; Mic.1:4). The mountain represents the difficult path of mortality that men and women must climb (Jer.13:16) which can be overcome through strong faith (Matt.17:20). Your life has been strewn with mountains, obstacles (Matt.21:21) and other difficulties (Zech.4:7).
"Go, swift messengers, to a people tall and smooth-skinned, to a people feared far and wide, an aggressive nation of strange speech, whose land is divided by rivers.
"All you people on the earth, you who live on the earth, when a banner is raised on the mountains, you will see it, and when a trumpet sounds, you will hear it.
"This is what the Lord says to me: 'I will remain quiet and will look from My dwelling place, like shimmering heat in the sunshine, like a cloud of dew in the heat of harvest.'
"For, before the harvest, when the blossom is gone and the flower becomes a ripening grape, He will cut off the shoots with pruning knives, and cut down and take away the spreading branches.
"They will all be left to the mountain birds of prey and to the wild animals; the birds will feed on them all summer, the wild animals all winter.
"At that time gifts will be brought to the LORD Almighty from a people tall and smooth-skinned, from a people feared far and wide, an aggressive nation of strange speech, whose land is divided by rivers -- the gifts will be brought to Mount Zion, the place of the Name of the LORD Almighty" (Isa.18:1-7, NIV).
Like Moses, you must undergo purification and separate yourself from those who have not undergone it. After your purification you will hear many-voiced trumpets and see many lights streaming forth with pure and manifold rays. You must be separated from the multitude, together with the elect priests, and press forward to the summit bearing your gifts. The Lord has spoken it. See that you are obedient. Even so. Amen.
