The Cross Schedule
Pesach (Passover) 1994 Commemorative Sermon
Second Edition (2015)
Brethren and sisters, we have gathered here today to commemorate the most spectacular event in the Universe since its creation, namely the resurrection of our Master and Delioverer Yah'shua the Messiah (Jesus Christ).
In the Beginning...
Long, long ago, before time existed, the physical universe was formless. There were no galaxies, no stars, no planets, no moons or comets. Everything was still. Nothing moved. All was dark. There was no energy, no warmth, just a frozen nothingness.
This is hard for us to imagine. We only have to look outside the window do see life, or at least, the evidence of life. We see form, colour, activity. By day we see sky, land, sea -- mountains, rivers, buildings, roads, people, animals and plants. Those of you who have traveled far by ship, car or land know how big this planet is. The earth is bustling with activity.
By night, as we look upwards into a clear sky, we see myriads upon myriads of stars. The great world we live in suddenly shrinks in size. When we think of the number of stars in the universe we cannot even conceive what the number means -- what, after all, is a billion, or a trillion? Can you, in your mind's eye, imagine a trillion of anything? I calculated the other day how many seconds old I was and found out it was around a thousand million. Even that's hard to imagine.
But once upon a time none of that existed. There were no stars, no planets, no atoms, no people, nothing. I doubt if space was there either.
Now the Scriptures tell us something quite fantastic. They tell us that in the beginning was the Davar (Word). They tell us that this Davar (Word) was not only with Elohim (God) but that it was Elohim (God) also (John 1:1). We are also told that through the Davar (Word) all things were made (v.3), and that absolutely nothing was made independently of this Davar (Word). Moreover, we are told that this Davar (Word) is the source of chayim (life) (v.4).
This passage of scripture from John's Gospel has confounded people. How, they ask themselves, is it possible to explain this gigantic universe and everything in it -- the trillions of stars and worlds -- in terms of a Davar (Word)?
The 22 Principles
Well, the Davar (Word) is more than a sound -- it is a Person. And that Person -- the Creator -- is the Master Yah'shua the Messiah (Jesus Christ). He is unique. He existed long before our universe came into existence. He was both with Elohim (God) in the beginning and was Himself Elohim (God). Through Him our dimension -- known as the physical universe -- came into existence. Out of 22 basic sounds which correspond to the letters of the Hebrew alphabet (arguably there were more originally) -- the whole universe came to be. Just 22 sounds? Yes, those 22. Actually, the word 'sound' is not quite right, because sound only exists in air. Perhaps it would be better to call them 'principles'. These 22 principles can be combined to give nearly 13 thousand trillion vibrations.
The Davar (Word) is Chayim (Life). Christ is chayim (life). He said: "I am the Derech (Way), the Emet (Truth) and the Chayim (Life), and no-one comes to the Father save through Me." Yah'shua (Jesus) is the originator of everything. Since He dwells with Elohim (God) the Father (Yahweh), then it follows that the only way back to the Father is through Yah'shua the Messiah (Jesus Christ).
The Origin of Ugliness and Pollution
I would like you to imagine in your mind's eye a point of light which then spreads out in every direction, creating a huge globe of light. Then I want you to imagine lots of people entering into that area of light with various prisms and lenses. From being an even mass of light it suddenly becomes distorted or bent. The light breaks up into many colours, combine, and create other colours. Now and then ugly combinations form leaving blobs of black, grey, dirty brown and other colours. The blobs multiply and multiply until the mass of light is surrounded by darkness. Bit by bit the ugly blobs move inward towards the centre and the light contracts.
That is the state of our universe. Fallen beings -- humans, malakim (angels) and other creatures, who have rebelled against Elohim (God), have distorted the light of Messiah, caused it to break up and to become polluted. We -- trillions of human souls, both those in physical bodies as well as those who are disembodied spirits -- have been polluting creation with revolting thoughts, wicked feelings, and murderous acts. We are like those damaged prisms and lenses, designed to magnify the glory of Elohim's (God's) Light, but who have instead done the very opposite.
The Invasion of Time and Space
There is an invasion going on. Not an invasion of countries by armies but an invasion of time and space and hidden dimensions by spiritual forces. Evil powers have multiplied and combined and are trying to invade the very source of Light. And they are recruiting creatures such as human beings to join together, consciously or unconsciously (it doesn't matter, because the effect is the same) to scatter the light.
The Last Battle
This world on which we live is, as many of you know, one of the most evil worlds in the whole creation -- perhaps the most wicked. We live in the end time when evil forces are gathering a vast army of demons, spirits as well as those in human form, to destroy this world. Why is the world the object of their special attention? because this is where they are concentrated -- not in our dimension but in another dimension that occupies the same space we live in. They were thrown out of heaven for rebellion long, long ago, out from the source of light to the very edge of creation. We actually co-exist with them in a point in the physical universe called the Great Abyss, or spirit prison.
This world -- our earth -- is actually a bridge-world. It is here that the great and last battle between light and darkness will be fought out. It has been going on since its fall. The planet earth is actually a doorway into heaven itself, to the world where Elohim (God) the Father dwells. It is therefore strategically the most vital planet in creation for it is here that the Father sent His Only Begotten Son, Yah'shua the Messiah (Jesus Christ), to absorb all the filth that mankind has created since the beginning.
The Work of Jesus
Yah'shua (Jesus) was sent by the Father to do the most disgusting, degrading, humiliating and soul-destroying work that anyone could possibly ever do -- to literally 'eat' our mess. Now I want you to try and picture in your mind the most disgusting substance imaginable -- the last thing in the world you would want to eat. No doubt just thinking about it will make some of you want to vomit. That is good.
The Saviour paid a terrible price for us -- for you and me -- He did the unthinkable. He absorbed the filth of generations and purified it through the ahavah (love) of His heart. He became like us physically, taking on our human nature. By willingly and lovingly taking on our sinful, depraved and wicked nature, He opened a door into a life of purity and holiness. He has done the cleaning for us. Like professional cleaners who are employed to clean out homes and offices, Messiah was sent to clean out our souls. It cost Him His life. The price of His cleaning service was death on a Cross.
When He died, the Universe -- the Creation -- died with Him, and was recreated. Not all in one go -- not yet, at any rate. As each of us receives Him as our Saviour, repent of our selfishness and wickedness, the Light -- that Eternal Light which was with Yahweh from the beginning -- floods into our souls and a small sun is lit in the remote darkness of our part of the Creation.
New Life Bursting Forth
Picture that ball of light again -- the darkness penetrating deeper and deeper -- and then, see, little balls of light suddenly bursting into life! Like a new star suddenly bursting forth into being, so a human being -- when he or she repents of his sins and lives a life of holiness -- bursts into life! Just like that -- in an instant! And then, through a constant diet of repentance, holiness and good works, that little sun grows larger and larger, forcing back the darkness. By and by, when others see the these little lights, they will be attracted to them, desire to change direction in their lives, repent, and become little suns as well, so that when the Great Sun returns -- the Master Yah'shua the Messiah (Jesus Christ) -- they will know their Source and return to Him with songs of simcha (joy) in their hearts.
Brethren and sisters, the resurrection of Yah'shua the Messiah (Jesus Christ) is a fact. It is probably the most important fact you will ever learn in this life. It means that the Eternal Davar (Word) entered a human body and conquered death. He offers Eternal Life -- free -- to those who will receive it. It means also that the Eternal Davar (Word) can enter you -- personally -- and transform you.
Today is the beginning of the Pesach (Passover) Season -- and on the third day of the Season, at Yom haBikkurim Yah'shua's (Jesus') bodily resurrection too place some two thousand years ago. This is good news! In Matthew's Gospel we read: "And the talmidim (disciples) did as Yah'shua (Jesus) had told them and prepared the Pesach (Passover) meal" (Matt.26:19, TEV). We all know, I hope by now, what discipleship involves. It includes self-denial, cross-bearing, setting priorities, and fruitfulness. But there is more, as the verse I have just read testifies, and it is "doing as Yah'shua (Jesus) told them". I am sure you will agree with me that it is all too easy to get off track doing good but irrelevant things. Yah'shua (Jesus) recognized that His time was soon up (v.18), and He had a schedule to keep -- one set from eternity. Now He asked for assistance in keeping this schedule.
My friends, Yah'shua (Jesus) kept His schedule. He went to the cross to die for you and me, in accordance with Yahweh the Father's will. But we too have schedules, and our time is short. We are all here on this world to fulfil personal as well as collective destinies. We are here on a mission not just for our own souls but for the souls of others also. We too must eat our Passover meals and be prepared to lay down our lives - our time and effort - for others.
But One Life
Time is precious -- we never get this life again. There is only one chance at getting it right. We are a richly blessed people, endowed with many, many keys. Are we using them all? Are we afraid of them? They are given us for our salvation. We also have a unique mission to perform -- to build Tsiyon (Zion) in the north countries. Yahweh has waited patiently for us to grow up in the Light, to mature, so that this call can be realised. All will agree that we have not done nearly enough because we have been distracted by personal problems and worldly cares.
I pray that this will be one of the last Passover's we share together in the world. Perhaps it will not be next Aviv but I truly pray the one after that. Next year we shall actually, physically partake of the Passover Meal, the Sacrament of the Master's Supper. Will you be ready for it? Those who are ready, and who do partake of it, will gather to Tsiyon (Zion), to Kadesh. Like the Ark of the Covenant we may not dwell in a great and glorious temple at the beginning but may have to be content with a tent, but what does it matter, so long as the King of the Universe is with us?.
Yah'shua is Alive Today
My testimony, brethren and sisters, is that Yah'shua (Jesus) is alive and coming back soon. It is also my testimony that our time is running out -- we have less and less time to fulfil our calling before the time of great darkness comes. Our children -- our little ones -- are depending on the work we have been called to do. I pray with all my heart that they will not be forced to flee the world at the last minute, unprepared, hungry, persecuted and homeless, because we failed in our work to build Kadesh for them. So the next time you look into your children's eyes, ask yourself the question: Am I willing to let them suffer because I refused to heed the call to Tsiyon (Zion)? I hope not. As for me and my house, we shall be ready to gather to Tsiyon (Zion) next year. It is my resolution, and I pray it is yours, that the next Pesach (Passover) is the last one we share outside Kadesh . It is my resolution, and I pray it will be yours too, that I will work as never before to get myself right before Yahweh so that that hope can become a concrete reality.
Let us praise the Master of the Resurrection, Yah'shua the Messiah (Jesus Christ), and invite Him into our community as never before. Amen.
Four more years were to pass before this dream was realised when it was celebrated on 3 April 1998 in Kadesh-biyqah, Sweden.
