Kadesh Established in Sweden
"The night is far spent, the day is at hand: let us therefore cast off the works of darkness..." (Romans 13:12)
We welcome our readers in the Name of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. Much has happened since the July issue.
KADESH ESTABLISHED IN SWEDEN
By the grace of God Kadesh-biyqah was established in Sweden at the beginning of August, against all the odds. We continue to marvel at the Lord's loving kindness. There is much to do, however, and we need all the help -- financial and practical -- as we can get.
THE OLIVE BRANCH PUBLISHED AND FOR SALE
On 12 September 1,000 copies of the Olive Branch were delivered to Kadesh-biyqah and the task of distributing them worldwide began. We are thrilled with the final product and marvel that we ever managed to complete it.
BULGARIAN VISITOR
Our first visitor at Kadesh-biyqah was Marina Kartchinova moved in together with the first saints and was with us for one week. Marina is a catechumen and lives in Sofia, Bulgaria. We pray for the Lord's blessings upon her and her mother and family.
NEW COVENANT VERSION OF THE BIBLE PLANNED IN NORWEGIAN
By some happy "coincidences" we met a brother in Christ who has translated the New Testament and Psalms of the Authorised King James Version of the Bible into Norwegian and who is working on a translation of the Old Testament too. It is our hope to collaborate with this translation work by arranging for its publication in Korea and distribution in Norway. We hope to make a revision of this version including corrections of errors in the KJV and have this version ready by the spring of 1998 (God willing).
If all goes well, we will commence work on the New Covenant Version in English as soon as the Norwegian revision is under way. We are still undecided as to which version we will modify. Most are agreed that the KJV is unsuitable because of its old-fashioned style -- the debate is whether to work with a more modern version, like the New International Version (NIV) or an updated KJV, the New King James Version (NKJV).
Please support us in your prayers so that we can know the will of the Lord in this matter.
NEW LINKS IN SINGAPORE
We are very happy to announce contacts with a congregation in Singapore whose ideas are very similar to our own and are hoping for a closer working relationship in time. More news of this next time.
INTERNET HOMEPAGE PROBLEMS
We apologise to our web users for the fact that our webpage has apparently remained unchanged since July. In fact it has been greatly expanded to include, amongst other things, half of our Bible course, Foundational Studies of the Bible. This is because our Internet Provider, Scandinavia Online, recently merged with another company, Schibsed, and has been reorganising its pages. This has meant that the homepage generator has been out of commission for several weeks. As soon as we have found a way to transfer our new files, we will let you know.
WELCOME TO A NEW CATECHUMEN FROM AMERICA
On behalf of the Patriarchate we would like to welcome Thomas Ricks of the USA who enrolled as a Catechumen (investigating member) in September. We pray for the Lord's blessings upon him as he searches out the New Covenant more fully.
