2-01. Baptism: First Evidence
by Ordinance of Your Salvation
"And Yahshua (Jesus) came up and spoke to them, saying, 'All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth. Go therefore and make talmidim (disciples) of all the nations, baptising them in the Name of the Father and the Son and the Ruach haQodesh (Holy Spirit), teaching them to observe all that I commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age" (Matthew 28:18-20).
When you believe in your heart and call upon the Name of the Master in true repentance and confess your emunah (faith) in Him you become His talmid (disciple). How, as a believer, you should be baptised as Yahshua (Jesus) commanded.
Baptism is a picture of the Besorah (Gospel, good news) showing the death, burial and resurrection of Yah'shua (Jesus). For you are
"buried with Him through baptism into death". And just
"as Messiah was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father", by this living Master you
"might walk in newness of chayim (life)". In baptism, you show how you consider (regard) yourself
"to be dead to sin, but alive in Yahweh (God) in Yah'shua the Messiah (Jesus Christ)". This pictures how you are buried with Him
"and raised to walk in newness of life".
Baptism is an act of obedience that follows salvation. Cornelius,
"his relatives and close friends" heard Peter speak
"words...by which you will be saved, you and all your household." "While Peter was still speaking these words, the Ruach haQodesh (Holy Spirit) fell upon all those who were listening to the message". The
"believers who had come with Peter...heard them speaking...and exalting (glorifying) Elohim (God). Then Peter answered, surely no one can refuse the water for these to be baptised who have received the Ruach haQodesh (Holy Spirit) just as we did, can he? And he ordered them to be baptised". In keeping with Yah'shua's (Jesus') mitzvah (command) to His talmidim (disciples) they were
"buried with Him in baptism" and
"raised up with Him through emunah (faith) in the working of Elohim (God)".
If you have called upon the Name of Yahweh and received Yah'shua the Messiah (Jesus Christ) as Saviour (Deliverer), and confessed Him as your Master, show your ahavah (love) and obey His mitzvah (command) to be baptised by full immersion.
Will you obey Yahweh's command to be baptised? If so, say:
"I will obey Him and be baptised".
