Christianity and the occult (including counterfeit christianity) are therefore based on two very different powers. To make things complicated, both can create supernatural phenomena and both can stirr the feelings, often making it hard for him to distinguish between the two.
In my life I have experienced both this soul-power and the Holy Spirit and it is probably true to say that most human beings will have experienced different combinations of the two. It is little wonder that people are confused between the two.
Satanic manipulation of soul-power has been the cause of the rise of many religions in the world, all set up to oppose the true religion of Yahweh-Elohim. Through the rebellious deeds of mankind, which opens the door to satanic invasion of the soul and is an open invitation by demonic forces to plunder this energy, Satan has worked many "wonders" through the centuries. And as man becomes more rebellious and godless, so ever greater supernatural deceptions are being performed. I know many people who have had false supernatural manifestations including visions which they have subsequently exposed through the Holy Spirit. The whole Mormon religion started through such false angel manifestations, Satan being given an open door through Joseph Smith's earlier dabbling with the occult and Masonry, which he never renounced. Mohammed, founder of Islam, through his worship of the pagan deity "Allah", provided an open door for demonic deception in the person of a counterfeit "Gabriel" dictating the Koran. Mary Baker Eddy, Emmanuel Swedenborg, Omraam Mikhaël Aïvanhov, Betty Eadie, and hosts of other false religionists have unknowingly opened the door to great demonic deceptions and founded religions or movements that have demonstrated the supernatural through the manipulation of soul-power.
Which brings us to the very antithesis of Christianity, namely Satanism. Through the invocation of demons and the ritual murder of pure souls, tremendous amounts of this soul-energy are released for devilish ends. The satanist truly believes he is being empowered and that he is in control of these stolen energies but the truth is that he is just another puppet on a string. He has no eternal resurrection life and no protection of the only One who has absolutely power, so he becomes a victim of Satan. Little does he know what lies in store for him when finally he dies in the flesh where the soul-power is stored. Like Anton LaVey, founder and high priest of the Church of Satan who recently died, as death approaches a terrible fear grips him. For the power he has acquired - which is in the soul - will desert him when he lays down his mortal flesh in death, and what will be left? His spirit. And to whom will that spirit belong when the physical body has gone?
When a soul receives Yah'shua haMashiach/Jesus Christ as his Saviour he receives the indwelling presence of the Ruach haQodesh (Holy Spirit) which comes from God and not from within himself. As he walks in faith in obedience to the commandments, the presence of the Holy Spirit is like a leaven, changing his spirit so that it becomes like Christ. The closer he walks with Christ in in faithful discipleship, the more powerful the presence of the Holy Spirit and the more his spirit is leaven until, as it says in scripture, we become "like Him" (1 Jn.4:17, NIV). And when He returns to gather His own, "we shall be like Him, for we shall see Him as He is" (1 John 3:2, NIV).
By allowing demons into your life through the practice of the occult (or any false religion, including counterfeit "Christianity"), you are admitting parasites into your being that will ultimately drain you of all the light you have or kill you off in the process (depending on the degree of infestation). When a person dies, laying aside their physical bodies and its psychic energies, all that is left is your spirit - the real "you". The ultimate question then becomes: whom do you belong to? and its sequel, "Where shall I go to?"
