"'And behold, I am coming quickly, and My reward is with Me, to give to every one according to his work. I am the Alef (Alpha) and the Tav (Omega), the Beginning and the End, the First and the Last.' Blessed are those who do His commandments, that they may have the right to the tree of life, and may enter through the gates into the city. But outside are dogs and sorcerers and sexually immoral and murderers and idolaters, and whoever loves and practices a lie. I, Yah'shua, have sent My malek (angel) to testify to you these things in the assemblies. I am the Root and the Offspring of David, the Bright and Morning Star.' And the Ruach and the bride say, 'Come!' And let him who hears say, 'Come!' And let him who thirsts come. Whoever desires, let him take the water of life freely" (Rev.22:12-17, NKJV).
One of the names of Sukkot is the Festival of Ingathering (Ex.23:16; 34:22). It was, and still is, the chief Harvest Festival. Moreover, it is chronologically the last of the seven festivals, the end of the cycle of moedim. If Pesach is the Alef or Alpha, then Sukkot is the Tav or Omega, just as their Author is the First and the Last, and the Beginning and the End.
Here we are gathered under this large Sukkah grateful to have made it thus far, rejoicing in Yahweh's providence and great loving-kindness. But if we are honest, we are still mourning for the losses that the enemy has inflicted upon us, and in some cases these have been great and devastating. And though our hearts are heavy and broken because of these things, yet we can also rejoice and celebrate because we know that Yahweh will win and we have chosen the winning side. Of that we do not have the slightest doubt. We also know that our enemies as well as those who have fled the battle field are not happy. They have neither the sukkah covering nor the shalom and contentment that comes from resting in the Sovereign Creator. They are unprotected save by unscrupulous invisible 'war lords' from the dark world who promise much but give little. In truth, they are totally exposed, save what Yahweh does by His grace because of the intercessory prayers of the set-apart ones.
We have learned so much this last year, some things the hard way because of doubt or defiance, and others the spiritual way because we trusted in our Provider and did not lean on the arm of flesh. We have learned that "he who covers (hides) his sins will not prosper, but whoever confesses and forsakes them will have mercy" (Prov.28:13, NKJV). We have learned that there is no room for playing, acting or hiding. We have learned that nothing - absolutely nothing - can ever substitute for doing right. We have learned that there is only ever One Torah Way in Yah'shua and that all others, whilst offering short-tern relief or ease - usually without, or with little, responsibility - always lead to the pit. And we have learned that "happy is the man who is always reverent, but he who hardens his heart will fall into calamity" (Prov.28:14, NKJV). It is important to keep an open heart because when we close it we are without our spiritual compass. We have stuck together, we have clung to the pole of 'All Truth' and resolved never to forsake it. We have learned that "whoever walks blamelessly will be saved, but he who is perverse in his ways will suddenly fall" (Prov.28:18, NKJV). Truly when calamity comes from the hand of Yahweh, it strikes suddenly and without forewarning.
We are gathered here at Sukkot in fulfilment of the commandment to show Yahweh our respect and reverence. We are here because we love Him and wish to honour Him through our obedience. Those who refuse to come, who know the commandment, He discomforts Zech.14:16-19) because they have spurned their Bridegroom. They may have a hundred-and-one excuses but none are valid. There is never a reason to disobey El Elyon.
And yet I know most of you are wondering - you have many questions about recent events - you want to know what the divine plan is and where everything is heading. Well, firstly, I can tell you this: we're still on course. We are still going to fulfil our mandate and we are going to rejoice, along with Gideon, all that He sends our way, whether it is depletion in numbers, losses of loved ones or threats by them to forsake you and the Master of Truth (and I know some of you are suffering terribly), because we know there is purpose in everything.
A brother from South Carolina has written some very excellent words, which he has given me permission to reproduce and share with you, that I think will bless you. He says this:
"Does it ever seem that things happen by chance, stroke of luck, or random molecular dance? Are all things accidents without guiding Hands, being nothing but bland, unconnected strands? Those of us who have been granted sight to see a glimpse of Yahweh's unfolding mystery are gaining a revelation from His Mind and thus becoming refined and realigned. There is no such thing as mere coincidence, for the whole Truth speaks of divine Providence. Collectively, we all share in His design, being called forth as lights to brilliantly shine. Abba's plan is neither dull nor prosaic, but a perfectly fitting stone mosaic. The Hands of the Architect form this Building and His brush strokes create a lovely Painting. We're part of an interwoven tapestry, composed of interconnected destinies, being as tones and notes of intense beauty within the vibrant, heavenly melody. In us, may this truth always be understood, the bad that Satan does, Yah turns it for good, steering everything in the right direction for the express purpose of our perfection. All those who delight themselves in the Master will receive the desires of their hearts in time, as has been predestined since the beginning, for His sure promises are never-ending. Yahweh shall exalt us who have been defamed, bringing all the mockers down to utter shame. If He is sought after firstly and adored, we won't be spiritually nude, but adorned. Yah's perfect Love within is casting out fears as His gentle Hand wipes away all our tears. Abba shall complete the work He has begun, for though defeat seems near, the battle's been won, being sealed for all time by Yah'shua's Blood which overcomes the enemy like a flood. Those who walk the Straight Way through the Narrow Gate shall gain the Inheritance which is our fate. We rest in knowing that Yah is sovereign, for from His throne on high, He forever reigns". 1
We have this understanding and it not only comforts us but actually gives us the ability to truly rejoice! We know these things even as Scripture testifies:
"Now He who searches the hearts knows what the mind of the Ruach is, because He makes intercession for the saints according to the will of Elohim. And we know that all things work together for good to those who love Elohim, to those who are the called according to His purpose. For whom He foreknew, He also predestined to be conformed to the image of His Son, that He might be the firstborn among many brethren. Moreover whom He predestined, these He also called; whom He called, these He also justified; and whom He justified, these He also glorified. What then shall we say to these things? If Elohim is for us, who can be against us? He who did not spare His own Son, but delivered Him up for us all, how shall He not with Him also freely give us all things? Who shall bring a charge against Elohim's elect? It is Elohim who justifies. Who is he who condemns? It is Messiah who died, and furthermore is also risen, who is even at the right hand of Elohim, who also makes intercession for us. Who shall separate us from the love of Messiah? Shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword? As it is written: 'For Your sake we are killed all day long; We are accounted as sheep for the slaughter.' Yet in all these things we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us. For I am persuaded that neither death nor life, nor angels nor principalities nor powers, nor things present nor things to come, nor height nor depth, nor any other created thing, shall be able to separate us from the love of Elohim which is in Messiah Yah'shua our Master" (Rom.8:26-39, NKJV).
In these words we have a measuring rod of our faithfulness of lack of it. One who is faithful and suffers conquers and is not separated from Him, not from the set-apart ones, and does not cease to do good works or obey the mitzvot. Impossible! But if we have ceased these things, if our 'conquering' actually leads to distance from Him, if it leads to a lawless lifestyle, then our 'conquering' is of the flesh, is not of Yahweh, and is futile. It is utterly useless. Then our suffering can only have one purpose - to bring us back to repentance and obedience. No amount of defiance, hiding or pretending - whatever kind of mask we may wear - will bring us into right-relationship with Yahweh, let alone prosperity in this world. Therefore there can be no genuine rejoicing but rather "a certain fearful expectation of judgement, and fiery indignation which will devour the adversaries" (Heb.10:27, NKJV).
It has been an amazing week. In the middle of our week, several different enemies have struck multiple times, hoping to reduce us and, they hope, ruin us. But actually it has been quite amusing, not because their works are amusing but because of the certain result of them. Yahweh Himself testified:
"Why do the nations rage, and the people plot a vain thing? The kings of the earth set themselves, and the rulers take counsel together, against Yahweh and against His Anointed, saying, 'Let us break Their bonds in pieces and cast away Their cords from us.' He who sits in the heavens shall laugh; Yahweh shall hold them in derision. Then He shall speak to them in His wrath, and distress them in His deep displeasure" (Ps.2:1-5, NKJV).
Yes, we can laugh, brethren and sisters, and we can celebrate Yahweh's victory this Sukkot. Have we not witnessed their defeat time and time again? Will they send more darts against us? I have little doubt that they will. But so what? Yahweh holds them in derision and will answer them as they deserve. It is for us to patiently endure and get on with building the Kingdom. I shall be talking to you more about this at Shemini Atsereth. In the meantime, the conspiracy of the Benjamites will be punished, and it will be a fierce punishment. Their day has come. Calamity always covers the mocker in the end.
Our Heavenly Father foreknew all that has happened, is happening and will happen and commands us to rejoice at this festival. He said back in the earliest times:
"So Yahweh brought us out of Egypt with a mighty hand and with an outstretched arm, with great terror and with signs and wonders. He has brought us to this place and has given us this land, 'a land flowing with milk and honey'; and now, behold, I have brought the firstfruits of the land which you, O Yahweh, have given me. Then you shall set it before Yahweh your Elohim, and worship before Yahweh your Elohim. So you shall rejoice in every good thing which Yahweh your Elohim has given to you and your house, you and the Levite and the stranger who is among you" (Deut.26:8-11, NKJV).
This year we celebrate our twentieth anniversary. In about four weeks time this work was publicly organised in Oxford, England 20 years ago. The revelation Yahweh would give us was but a tiny seed and we had little idea of what was coming. Of those who were originally present, there are now only two - myself and my firstborn child. We remain. If we had known the suffering we would have to go through I wonder if I would ever have crossed the North Sea to these Scandinavian shores! I truly wonder! This work was born in much tribulation and has been subject to much tribulation almost constantly. Yet we have survived. Yet we have prospered. And here we are, twenty years later, celebrating at the final Harvest Festival of Yahweh. Our message has been spread far and wide. Our enemies thought they had destroyed it. When they failed to destroy the message, they sought to destroy the messenger. And when they failed to destroy the messenger they sought to destroy his nearest and dearest. And yes, they have inflicted great pain and suffering. That they have. And on every single one of us. Yet we have also witnessed miracle after miracle after miracle. We have become strengthened and more robust. We have seen Yahweh's mighty hand and are confident that it will always be outstretched in our behalf if we continue to adhere to Him and obey.
There are, out there, hundreds if not thousands of people who, you might say, are 'poised'. They're waiting for a sign from heaven to jump on board. But they have been dismayed. They have watched, as they supposed, the spectacle of a sinking ship only to witness an astonishing thing and learn an essential truth:
"Unless Yahweh builds the house, they labour in vain who build it; Unless Yahweh guards the city, the watchman stays awake in vain. It is vain for you to rise up early, to sit up late, to eat the bread of sorrows; for so He gives His beloved sleep" (Ps.127:1-2, NKJV).
Yes, if what we are doing is of man, it will not survive but be destroyed, but if it is of Him, it will prosper. And yes, I know there are people out there waiting to see if it prospers. Others are waiting for it to die. That's fair enough, and when they see the prosperity, they may well come at the end of the day, or they may not. I have met many people who have made such promises who did not keep them because faith does not operate in this matter. Faith comes before the miracle, not the other way round.
We will not die. We will live and prosper. We will be faithful to our mission and fulfil it.
I just quoted part of Psalm 127 to you. Some days ago, when I was feeling discouraged, Yahweh spoke audibly to me and told me to read this and the one before it. The latter reads:
"When Yahweh brought back the captivity of Zion, we were like those who dream. Then our mouth was filled with laughter, and our tongue with singing. Then they said among the nations, 'Yahweh has done great things for them.' Yahweh has done great things for us, and we are glad. Bring back our captivity, O Yahweh, as the streams in the South. Those who sow in tears shall reap in joy. He who continually goes forth weeping, bearing seed for sowing, shall doubtless come again with rejoicing, bringing his sheaves with him" (Ps.126, NKJV).
Those who sow in tears shall reap in joy! Why? Speaking of the United States, Julie Redstone writes:
"There is a time for rejoicing when that which has been prophesied in relation to the destiny of an individual or a nation can manifest upon the earth in its beauty and its fullness, and there is a time for tears when that which has brought the promise of a noble venture to the earth brings, instead, the presence of heartache and disappointed expectations. This is the present situation regarding the unfoldment of the United States of America a nation so gifted in its founding vision, so blessed ... so illumined in the wisdom which created its underlying principles, so sanctified in its mission and purpose when a nation with all of these attributes moves, instead, in a direction that abandons its soul-purpose and seeks, instead, to win power and glory for itself and for its national ego. This is the source of America's tears. It lies in the abandonment of the principles upon which a great nation was built". 2
Well, brethren and sisters, most former Christian nations, if not all of them, are moving in the same direction as America, including my own. The tears that are being shed, and will be shed are those of dispossession - dispossession by the Most High. The tears that Yahweh speaks of in the 126th psalm are, however, tears of repentance because these ALWAYS lead to joy. Repentance is our sowing - they are the sowing of Yom Kippur and the harvest is the joy of Sukkot. As individuals and as nations we must not forget this.
The great battles that we are individually fought within have been contests of the ego versus the Ruach haQodesh, and the great battles that lie ahead are exactly the same. Pride and self-rule must give way or else tears of bitterness result - the tears of dispossession. Yahweh will dispossess those who take what is not theirs and punish those who break the commandments when they have covenanted to be obedient. There is no question of that. Today we remain at war but we are pausing this week to celebrate. Yes, we have much cause to celebrate! We are celebrating the victories won and the victories to be won, but most of all we celebrate the Cosmic Victory of Yah'shua on the Cross.
I do not have a great theological discourse for you today - I have not come here today to teach but to rejoice. I want to bear witness of a secret place which is available to all who will trust and obey:
"He who dwells in the secret place of the Most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty. I will say of Yahweh, 'He is my refuge and my fortress; my Elohim, in Him I will [confidently] trust'" (Ps.91:1-2, NKJV).
What is that "secret place"? It is the Holy of Holies, the Set-Apart of Set-Apart Places, the very heart of the Tabernacle and of the Temple of Yahweh. And when your heart is consecrated to Him and He sits as Regent upon its throne, it becomes a part of that most sacred of places. It is the Bridal Chamber of Yah'shua, the tent of rejoicing and of celebration, for where He dwells, there is perfection of lights and all is echad. That is the place I seek. It is the place we all seek this Sukkot therefore my prayer is as that of David:
"It is good to give thanks to Yahweh, and to sing praises to Your name, O Most High; To declare Your loving kindness in the morning, and Your faithfulness every night, on an instrument of ten strings, on the lute, and on the harp, with harmonious sound. For You, Yahweh, have made me glad through Your work; I will triumph in the works of Your hands" (Ps.92:1-4, NKJV).
I triumph in the works of Yahweh. You triumph in them. Together we triumph in the Victor and celebrate with Him this day. Amen.
