The Last Day of the Feast of Firstfruits
Main Themes:
Minor Themes:
Shabbat shalom and welcome to this the seventh and last day of the Feast of Unleavened Bread. This has indeed been an incredible week with not only an incredible outpouring of the Ruach haShleshi at Yom haBikkurim but, as many with testify, there has been an incredible outpouring of the Ruach haShanee all week. Not only have we been working very hard to get the leaven of sin out of our lives this week through deliverance ministry, by metaphorically leaving Egypt, but we even experienced the powers of darkness attempt to hamper the blessings of this sacred season.
About a week ago I was awakened during the night to see a jackel-headed Egyptian deity known as Anubis approach me. At the same time, my wife saw a vision of an idol with a lizard head, with two live crocodiles on either side, one of which had a dead man in its mouth. The crocodile god of the Egyptians, some of you may know, was called Sobek. After a short prayer these demons were expelled and the idol destroyed.
Now you may be wondering why I am bringing up this work of the enemy on this the last day of Chag haMatzah, and the reason is that this manifestation was no accident. At the same time we were celebrating Chag haMatzah at the beginning of the week, and unknown to us, one of my wife's unsaved family members was taking a vaccation in Egypt. When she returned home she brought back a statute of the Egyptian jackel-headed god Anubis as a holiday souvenir. From that day onwards there was trouble in the household. A member of the household began to have nightmares of people being murdered and subsequent investigations revealed that her mother had actually admitted the demon Anubis into her by simply being 'open' to the spirits around her. When we asked Yah'shua what to do He informed us that the demon had no legal grounds as it was a territorial spirit since the lady in question lived in Europe, which had a different set of territorial demons. So it was a simple matter to expell this enemy and begin cleansing out the house and all those who had been affected by this.
We admit into our hearts whatever we are 'open' to. A lot of people claim to be 'sensitive' to spirits around them who are doing no more than opening the doors of their hearts and letting whatever is around come in. These people are often clairvoyant but do not realise that this is not some special 'spiritual gift' that they have but the work of demons admitted into their lives either by carelessness or by believing lies.
The Bible tells us to be guardians of our own spirits and of the spirits to whom we give covering. Yahweh tells the prophet Malachi to warn those men keen to discard the wives of their youth for other women to "guard yourself in your spirit, and do not break faith with the wife of your youth" (Mal.2:15, NIV). We are to watch over our spirits so that we do not go breaking sacred covenants with Yahweh (such as wedding vows) and thereby become open doors to demons. Similarly the apostle Paul counsels Timothy to "guard the good deposit that was entrusted to you - guard it with the help of the Ruach haQodesh who lives in us" (2 Tim.1:14, NIV). And throughout the rest of the Scriptures, usually made clearer in Messianic translations, we are told to 'guard (keep) the commandments' of Torah (e.g. Dt.5:10; Eccl.12:13).
Your heart is like a sacred treasury or bank. It is supposed to be carefully guarded so that only purity comes in and purity goes out. "But the things that come out of the mouth come from the heart, and these make a man 'unclean.' For out of the heart come evil thoughts, murder, adultery, sexual immorality, theft, false testimony, slander" (Matt.15:18-20, NIV). To properly guard it you not only need the 'good deposit', which is the Scriptures, but also the Ruach haQodesh who acts as a filter, catching lies and impurity in Her net and excluding them. The only true 'sensitivity' is the awareness given to our spirit that is based in biblical truth and which is controlled and animated by the Ruach - all other forms of 'sensitivity' are demonic and of the flesh. Those who claim to be psychics, or to have 'psychic sensitivity', are in reality experiencing distorted reality or fantasy through their unknown demonic guides. The fact that there may be elements of truth in this extrasensory perception does not guarantee a pure source since the demonic will always mix truth with lies in order to retain some sort of credibility. We are responsible for the spiritual connections we make with other people and with invisible powers - we will be held accountable before the Throne of Yah.
Now the woman of whom I have spoken had no such guards on her soul. She was 'covered' by a husband who is also an unbeliever, whose fortress is not Yahweh, so his covering was about as good as a roof with no tiles on it. She could not say or claim, with King David that "Yahweh is my rock, my fortress and my deliverer; my Elohim is my rock, in whom I take refuge, my shield and the horn of my salvation" (2 Sam.22:2-3, NIV). When she visited Egypt her natural curiosity rendered her heart vulnerable to invisible forces and their suggestions - her suggesitibility rendered her an easy demonic prey and when she returned home to Europe she infested her husband's house with Anubis and other false deities, including her unsaved son whose heart went numb as hers did before we secretly prayed for deliverance.
The crocodile-headed deity known as Sobek represented the power of the Pharaohs, like the one who enslaved the Israelites prior to their escape into the desert. This deity was worshipped to appease him. His crocodiles who were bred by pagan priests. The city of Arsinoë, which was a centre for this worship, was renamed Crocodilopolis by the Greeks. Remnants of this demon-worship survive in the superstitions of a number of tribes in North Africa still and as far afield as West Africa - for those interested we will be showing a film on this later. Sobek was a fourfold deity representing the four elemental gods of fire, air, earth and water. It is no accident that the enemy, over the past few years, has been trying to poison these elements through, for example, spraying from planes to make us ill here.
The Egyptian deity Anubis is associated with the dead whose task is to guide the dead in the underworld so they can find Osiris. In short, this is the demon of hell who guides the damned to Satan.
These experiences during Chag haMatzah have, of course, led us to do a lot of thinking and praying, knowing as we do that they were not concidences especially in the aftermath of the satanist attack on our headquarters a few weeks ago. Getting the pagan leaven out of the Israelites took a whole generation and led them, briefly, into returning to the gods of Egypt while Moses was up on Mount Sinai collecting the Ten Commandments from Yahweh. The demon that they worshipped in this case was the bull-idol Apis which we know of from the Golden Calf incident. They worshipped this demon with much debauchery. This idol was considered the animal manifestation of Ptah, the god of Memphis, the Egyptian capital, and was a fertility deity and revered like a king. Between its horns was a solar disk associated with sun-worship, the centre of which was at On or Heliopolis in Egypt. And when it died, it became Osiris, the god of the dead, showing that this false religion was a worship of death, in contrast to the worship of Yahweh, the Elohim of Life. The whole of this Pesach, Chag haMatzah and Yom haBikkurim season is about leaving death for LIFE.
Sadly, the legacy of Egyptian paganism did not end in Sinai as it should have done for later on in Israel's and Judah's history we read of kings returning to the same idolatry. King Jeroboam of Israel not only set up two Apis bull idols at Dan and Bethel but also referred to them as the gods who brought the Israelites out of Egypt (1 Ki.12:26-30). And the same demonic practices, in different forms, have infected Christendom and turned it into a sun-worshipping cult, an example of which is Sun-day worship.
We have learned in our studies of this time period how difficult it is for people steeped in paganism to leave pagan ways behind them. It is not unusual for it to take up to a generation to be purged out, as the Sinai wandering demonstrated. But like all long journeys, we must start, however hesitantly, and grow bolder by the day as we elect to do what is right, reneweing our covenants with Yahweh daily. Clearly, as the sequence of events of the spring festivals has shown us, leaving the fleshpots of Egypt takes more than one decision - more is required than receiving Yah'shua as Lord and Saviour. We have to be purged and deepened. For a whole week we have been eating unleavened bread to remind ourselves that this is very much a matter of not merely taking one step in the right direction but of walking consistently in the right direction over a long period of time - over a seven day period to denote the quest for perfection. It means not allowing ourselves to be pulled back by old pagan ways but to resolutely keep our eyes on the goal, which is Yah'shua, and the Promised Land which He offers us.
Last Sunday evening in our family Bible studies we were looking at the Isaiah 54 Parsha and as we did Yahweh gave a message of hope to those who were struggling with spiritual issues which the Ruach haShanee had stirred up in us so that we could confront and deal with them victoriously in Messiah. Let's talke another look at that passage:
"'Sing, O barren woman, you who never bore a child; burst into song, shout for joy, you who were never in labour; because more are the children of the desolate woman than of her who has a husband,' says Yahweh. 'Enlarge the place of your tent, stretch your tent curtains wide, do not hold back; lengthen your cords, strengthen your stakes. For you will spread out to the right and to the left; your descendants will dispossess nations and settle in their desolate cities'" (Is.54:1-3, NIV).
This passage, quoted by the apostle Paul (Gal.4:26-27), is applied by him to Sarah, the wife of Abraham, to represent the "Jerusalem above" in contrast to the fallen Jerusalem representing Israel in exile. But in a much more intimate sense it applies to you too - to everyone who is barren of the fullness of the life and light of Yah'shua. It applies to every soul who has been cut off from Yahweh by the enemy because of lies that have been believed, because of pain that has been accepted, for we have no spiritual pain inside except that we accept it and choose to make it ours. A soul that is barren of light is a soul that chooses to be barren, with Satan making us go round in circles by blaming others or even Satan himself. "Satan made me do it!" is the excuse we often hear. "The problem is with him because he doesn't love me, and that is the source of my pain!" is yet another lie. Jerusalem was barren because she believed in the lies of the false prophets and false gods. And what was the state of Jerusalem in real life when she was in this condition? Before the Babylonians finally took her off into exile, she was surrounded, starving and eating her own children. And when a soul listens to the voice of Satan instead of the voice of Yahweh, it too is surrounded by enemies and becomes so hungry for love and light that it turns inwardly and consumes itself. The apostle James said: "Ye ask, and receive not, because ye ask amiss, that ye may consume it upon your lusts" (James 4:3, KJV). What this means is that we do not receive light and truth because our motive is all wrong - we want to "consume it upon our lusts", meaning we want to fulfil our person expectations - our self-willed eager desires, our futile attempts at self-fulfilment or self-realisation.
The exclusion of leaven from bread - the eating of the so-called 'bread of affliction' has, as it purpose, the exclusion of self-will, self-direction, self-expectation. The soul cannot ride victorious until it has fully surrendered to Yahweh. In this one key lies the formula for personal happiness. Reject it and you will seek in vain, ever desiring, ever being in inner pain, and constantly feeling a sense of failure and worthlessness because your goal is never met. When you seek self-fulfilment or realisation, you are pursuing the gods of Egypt with their lying promises of immortality through the pursuit of self. When you seek to die to self, to surrender unconditionally to Yahweh, you are pursuing the Elohim of Israel, Yahweh, and His Son Yah'shua. The moment you choose to stop pursuing personal agendas and personal methods of protection and happiness, you smash the golden Apis bull which Aaron constructed to appease the fleshy demands of unredeemed Israel, and return to the One - and the One alone - Elohim who has Life.
None of this is popular to the fleshy mind which wants its own dominion - self-rule. None of this is popular to the occultised world we live in which cries out that self is truth and all you have to do is find truth within. None of this is liked by our brainwashed society which looks upon death of self as cultism when it is itself the biggest cult of all - the cult of self-worship, which is another word for satanism. And Satan, as you know is the biggest liar there is, the very father of all lies there are (Jn.8:44). He is still whispering the same lie to us that he whispered to Eve back in the Garden of Eden when he persuaded her that Yahweh was just a cultist and a brainwasher who wanted to spoil her desire at self-realisation and become a god like He was (Gen.3:1-5). He lied to her and wanted her to believe that she could become equal to Elohim just as he believed he could by rebellion and proclaiming is own kingdom. "Cast off the shakles," he was crying inside, "be free - do your own thing! Don't fall for this nonsense about being surrendered, stand up for yourself - proclaim your selfhood, worship yourself! Claim your rights, be a woman!"
Now you may be smugly smiling and thinking to yourself that you have not fallen for all that nonsense but you might be rudely surprised to find that that is exactly what you are, in fact, doing and all in the Name of Yahweh. Oh yes, Satan's greatest success is achieved when we proclaim lies in the Name of the One who teaches and expects the opposite. He takes scriptures out of context and makes them mean something else. Indeed Yahweh told my wife yesterday that the enemy uses divine symbols and inverts them, claiming them to be his own.
Yesterday my wife and I were walking in the Garden in close embrace after a very profound encounter with Yahweh. We went to Yah'shua and he told her to lean her head on my shoulder. As she did so, she saw a vision of a pyramid and recoiled, thinking that there was some sin issue in her that was being depicted by this very occult sysmbol. Then Yah'shua told her, no, that this was not an occult symbol originally, but a divine one which Satan had hijacked, twisted and used for his own perverse ends. He told her that this particular pyramid represented a kingdom, that this kingdom was my kingdom, and that she was to submit to it completely and unconditionally. She had previously been told, when she had asked to go into the Temple in the Garden, that she had to be accompanied by her husband because I was her priest, and only His priest could admit her there.
Now we come to some vital truths which those who are seeking the Kingdom of Heaven must understand. Firstly, Yah'shua says that He "loved us and has freed us from our sins by his blood, and has made us to be a kingdom and priests to serve his Elohim and Father" (Rev.1:5-6, NIV). He also says, in the same Book of Revelation a little later: "You have made them to be a kingdom and priests to serve our Elohim, and they will reign on the earth" (Rev.5:10, NIV). Yahweh explained earlier, when He gave Torah to Moses, exactly what this meant: "'Although the whole earth is Mine, you will be for Me a kingdom of priests and a holy nation'' These are the words you are to speak to the Israelites" (Ex.19:5-6, NIV).
Understand this - that the words spoken by Yah'shua to John in the Book of Revelation were the same words spoken by Yahweh to Moses. The same group of people are in mind - the Israelites, and not just a people called 'Israelites', but a nation called Israel. What is Israel? A person who is Israel is one who overcomes. How does one overcome? One overcomes by surrendering to Yahweh, the Almighty One, trusting in Him, loving Him with your whole might, mind and strength - and note the word 'whole' ... not just part of you but ALL of you - one does these things, one obeys Torah, and one accept His Messiah Yah'shua as Lord and Saviour. He says so several times in the Book of Revelation - you know the passages well and the people whom Yah'shua is addressing because they are the ones hated by Satan: "And the dragon was enraged with the woman, and he went to make war with the rest of her offspring, who keep the commandments of Elohim and have the testimony of Yah'shua the Messiah" (Rev.12:17, NKJV). The true believers are commandment-keepers and they have the testimony of Yah'shua. And you can only be a true commandment-keeper, obeying with a pure heart, if you first love Yahweh with you whole might, mind and strength.
Who, then, is this kingdom, and who are its priests? It is Israel - it always has been and always will be. Not the little republic in the Far East which uses the same name (a name which it has no right to because it is an Edomite counterfeit of the true Kingdom of Yahweh) but that group of people who are fully submitted and obedient to Yahweh. He has, as we saw in Torah, called Israel to be a "kingdom of priests" and a "holy nation" - a set-apart, pure nation. That set-apartness can only be on the basis of what He expects - total surrender and total obedience to Him. Realise also that the Kingdom is defined by its priest. Yahweh is the King and the Kingdom is His Priests. The Kingdom is not all the people of Israel. Indeed, as Scripture makes perfectly plain, each Priest is also the king of a kingdom, and that kingdom contains subjects under that priest. That is why Yah'shua is called "King of kings" (1 Tim.6:15; Rev.19:16) because in His Kingdom there are many kings, which means, of course, that the Kingdom of Yahweh consists of many kingdoms headed by priests. Logically it follows that if there are priests that there must be a High Priest or Cohen Gadol. Israel always had a High Priest as the intermediary between Israel and Yahweh. Today we have such a High Priest, and He is Yah'shua the Messiah (e.g Heb.9:11). And He became that when He fully subjected Himself to Yahweh, King of the Universe, obeying Him in all things.
The Kingdom of Yahweh consists of many kingdoms ruled by His priests who are fully surrendered and obedient to Yah'shua the High Priest and King of kings. The order of this Kingdom is explained in Torah very plainly. There are 12 kings who are the tribal heads of the Tribes of Israel and who are the priests for that tribe. And under them are lesser priest-kings over clans, and beneath them are the priest-kings over their individual families. They are the priests of the temple that is given to them, and that temple is in the core of their heart, which is the centre of each man's Garden. There is no temple in a woman's Garden which is why she must come under her husband's or father's covering and worship there to have the fullness because she, being made out of him, is a part of his heart.
The Kingdom of Yahweh is founded upon the work of Yah'shua the Messiah on the Cross who "learned obedience from what he suffered and, once made perfect, He became the source of eternal salvation for all who obey Him and was designated by Yahweh to be High Priest in the order of Melchizedek" (Heb.5:8-10, NIV). Brethren, you know as well as I do that Yah'shua imitated His Heavenly Father in all things. You also know that we in our turn are called to imitate Yah'shua so that when He returns we shall be like Him (1 Jn.3:2). You know this. When we imitate Yah'shua, we obey Him. Likewise, the early apostles said the same thing. Paul urged his hearers to imitate him (1 Cor.4:16) as an apostolic father, patriarch, priest and king. We live by imitation, consciously or unconsciously - we have this impulse to follow and copy, however much we may choose to deny it and believe we can become our own gods. Like it or not, you are imitating someone - you are either imitating godly or ungodly people, you are imitating either Yahweh or Satan. And anyone who says they aren't I call either a liar or ignorant. Paul said: "We do not want you to become lazy, but to imitate those who through faith and patience inherit what has been promised" (Heb.6:12, NIV). Who, then, should you imitate? Someone with a title? Someone who claims some sort of legalistic apostolic succession from Peter like the Catholics and Mormons claim? No, he says to imitate those who have received from Yahweh what has been promised. Follow the ones who have the fruits! (Mt.7:16,20) And you know the fruits because we read them earlier during Chag haMatzah - "love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control" (Gal.5:22-23, NIV). These are the fruits of the priests of the Kingdom of Yahweh. If you find such priests, imitate them. Yahweh will lead you to the priest whom you are to subject yourself to and by this you will know which tribe you are from and where you belong. You will know your spiritual family either as a wife or as a son or daughter. And you will know them because these priests are like the matzah we have been eating all week - they have striven to get the leaven of sin out of their lives and are being victorious.
Our purpose is to gather the priests of Israel together - they and they wives and children - and establish the Kingdom of Yahweh once more. To these men those to whom they belong will they come, and subject themselves unconditionally to their kingdoms of righteousness, which are kingdoms within the Kingdom of Righteousness and its righteous High Priest and Judge, Yah'shua. How can we know where this Kingdom of Yahweh is? How will we recognise it? For there are many out there searching for it. Well, Yah'shua tells us. He says: "But if I drive out demons by the Ruach haElohim, then the kingdom of Elohim has come upon you" (Matt.12:28, NIV). So what will the true priest-kings be doing? Driving out demons. He also says that those who have the Kingdom of Heaven within them will be evangelists or 'evangelicals' in the truest sense of the word: "Repent, for the kingdom of heaven is near" (Matt.3:2; 4:17 NIV), Yah'shua said. He also said that healing would follow those who had the Kingdom: "Yah'shua went throughout Galilee, teaching in their synagogues, preaching the good news of the kingdom, and healing every disease and sickness among the people" (Matt.4:23, NIV). Well, let's be honest. Here are three criteria of the Kingdom. Are we fulfilling them? Are we casting our demons? Yes, very definitely. Our deliverance ministry has been blessed and is very successful. Are we true evangelicals, preaching repentance and the imminence of the Kingdom? Yes, we have been doing that since our very beginning. Are we healing the sick? The truthful answer is that we have barely begun - we have seen some small healings. A little cancerous growth, abdominal pains, headaches - these sorts of things we have been instruments in the healing of. But the kind of healing Yah'shua did, we have not yet done. In that respect we have not become priest-kings. So in this we lack. We have purification to undergo. We have things to repent of. We are not a fully endowed Kingdom yet. But it is coming. And I am sure will see it by the end of this year. We will be fully endowed.
What are the other signs of this Kingdom? Yah'shua's said: "Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven" (Matt.5:3, NIV). What is it to be poor in spirit? It is to declare with King David: "The sacrifices of Elohim are a broken spirit; a broken and contrite heart, O Elohim, you will not despise" (Ps.51:17, NIV). Humility is another sign of the Kingdom - it boasts of nothing save Yah'shua crucified (Gal.6:14). Yahweh says: "I live in a high and holy place, but also with him who is contrite and lowly in spirit, to revive the spirit of the lowly and to revive the heart of the contrite" (Isa.57:15, NIV). Who is the one who Yahweh esteems? Who is the one He holds in high regard? He says: "he who is humble and contrite in spirit, and trembles at My Word" (Isa.66:2, NIV).
Of the Kingdom Yah'shua also says: "Blessed are those who are persecuted because of righteousness, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven" (Matt.5:10, NIV). Do you accept persecution for righteousess' sake? If you do, you are of the Kingdom and the King. Yah'shua also said: "Anyone who breaks one of the least of these commandments and teaches others to do the same will be called least in the kingdom of heaven, but whoever practices and teaches these commands will be called great in the kingdom of heaven. For I tell you that unless your righteousness surpasses that of the Pharisees and the teachers of the law, you will certainly not enter the kingdom of heaven" (Matt.5:19-20, NIV). Do you love the Torah so passionately that you delight and strive to obey all the commandments to please your Heavenly Father? If you do, you are of the Kingdom and the King. If you can pray sincerely and passionately: "Your kingdom come, Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven" (Matt.6:10, NIV) then you are of the King and the Kingdom.
Now in all this your heart must be right, beloved brothers and sisters. Words alone are not enough, even as Yah'shua said: "Not everyone who says to me, 'Lord, Lord,' will enter the kingdom of heaven, but only he who does the will of My Father who is in heaven. Many will say to me on that day, 'Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in Your name, and in Your name drive out demons and perform many miracles?' Then I will tell them plainly, 'I never knew you. Away from me, you evildoers!'" (Matt.7:21-23, NIV). What, then, are your motives for being here? What is truly your first love as to opposed to what you think is your first love? (Rev.2:4) What is it you seek above all else? What would you seek to the exclusion of all else as proof of what your first love is? For Yah'shua said: "Seek first His kingdom and His righteousness, and all these things will be given to you" (Matt.6:33, NIV).
I could say more for the Scriptures have much to say about the Kingdom - these I leave you to search out so that you may know what it is you actually seek for ... or what you are running from. I am a priest in this kingdom - I make no apology saying that. I have my strengths and weaknesses. I have confessed one of my weaknesses before you today, and I have also declared my intent tp rectofy it. I hope you will do the same and make right what is wrong in your lifes to become good disciples.
This has been a wonderful Chag haMatzah. It is not over yet. This afternoon lies before us Grab it while the Ruach haShanee is present in such abundance and partake of the blessings which have been flooding into us this week. Today I am ecstatic in fact. Yesterday wonderful things happened and today wodnerful things are already happening. I can truthfully say that I am elated today as the Kingdom swells up within my bosom. I pray that it does so in yours as you firmly and resoluely renounce the Egyptian kingdom of death, loneliness and self-government and yield to Yahweh and your husband-fathers in all things, in holiness and according to Torah, is my prayer in Yah'shua's Name, Amen.
