Sigmund Freud
His Idiosyncratic Religion
There are three hypotheses that are advanced by fellow psychoanalysts to explain the origin of Sigmund Freud's ideas about the human mind:
- 1. His personal idiosyncracies, and in particular his own highly unusual family constellation;
- 2. His 'flashes' or 'revelations', with possible connections to his Jewish mystical background; and
- 3. His genius, and in particular, his 'gifting'.
Given that Freudian psychoanalysis is supposed to be an atheistic, humanistic scientific discipline, all concepts of 'revelation' or 'gifting' are quite meaningless and - perhaps unintentionally - ascribe his qualties to some supernatural entitity. To be consistent within a purely materialistic framework, we are forced to the conclusion (if we are materialists...which I am not) that Freud's teachings are essentially based on his own personal idiosyncracies. Any materialist who claims otherwise is not, strictly speaking, being a true materialist but admitting to some kind of theism.
It is my belief that there is a lot in common between Karl Marx and Sigmund Freud. I believe that not only is Marxism a religion that is consciously a rebellion against God but that Freudian psycho-analysis is exactly the same.
David Bakan (an atheistic psychologist), in his book, Sigmund Freud and the Jewish Mystical Tradition, which I first read in 1976 when I was at Oxford, traced Freud's revolt against Yahweh and the Torah and his conviction that he was the third of a line of 'prophets' come to dismantle religion, the first being Copernicus (whom he claimed delivered the 'cosmological blow') and the second Darwin (whom he claimed delivered the 'biological blow'). He considered that he delivered the 'psychological blow'). Like Marx, he saw himself as a kind of anti-religious crusader. Unfortunately, Copernicus not so much delivered a blow to religion as to a false view of religion (namely Catholicism) and Charles Darwin quite simply got it completely wrong. And if the fruits of contemporary psychiatry are anything to go by, then, like the holocaust which has been communism, Freudianism has been no less catastrophic to the well-being and mental health of mankind, and has quite likely contribited to human insanity on a grand scale.
Freud regarded himself as a kind of 'second Moses' but once totally shorn of the Law or Torah. He believed that lawlessness or antinomianism would free man from the shackles of religion (eerily echoeing some Protestant sentiments). We see the fruits of lawlessness in our depraved and collapsing society and I wonder if Freud might have hesitated had he seen our own world. What Freud saw as a 'yoke' is in reality our hedge of protection. And as for gifting, there is no doubt that Marx, Darwin and Freud were all gifted by the Creator to do great things, gifts that they prostituted in the service of Satan by attempting to lead mankind away from Yahweh to justify their own individual rebellions.
Today we are seeing globally the baneful effects of our sins. Mankind is in near almost total rebellion against the Creator. As we end the Roman month of Red April, we are now reaping what we have sown. We are on the edge of total despoilment. Man teeters on the brink of insanity in an insane world made in the image of the Rebel and, lemming-like, is seemingly trying to commit mass-suicide. We are being ordered by the atheistic establishment to follow the idiocynracies of the founder of psycho-analysis, the fairytale of the inventor of the evolution saga, and the socio-politics of the deranged follower of a death cult called Marxism. This trio of darkness is what is killing off mankind and it is time that mankind woke up and repented of this folly. If he doesn't, he will be driven over the edge of the abyss into extinction.
Return to the living Elohim (God)!
