Yahweh or Lord?
Your Call to Start Obeying the Command
"And in that day shall ye say, Praise YAHWEH ('the LORD'), call upon His NAME (Yahweh), declare His doings among the people, make mention that His name (Yahweh) is exalted" (Isaiah 12:4, KJV).
Yet people - including most Christians - REFUSE to exalt His Name, Yahweh. You will even find those led by false spirits declaring that this is the name of a pagan god!
N.B. His Name is NOT 'Jehovah', 'Yehovah', 'Yahuah', 'Jesus' or any of the other inventions of man. For a thorough exegetical and historical study, please read Clover's exhaustive book.
YAHWEH is the Name of our Heavenly Father and of the whole Elohimhead (Godhead) of Father, Son & Ruach haQodesh/Holy Spirit collectively. He is therefore the 'Greater Yahweh'.
Believers have called upon His Name since the beginning:
"At that time people began to call upon the NAME of Yahweh ('the Lord')" (Genesis 4:26).
Abraham built an altar and "called on the NAME of Yahweh ('the Lord')" (Genesis 12:8).
"And you call upon the name of your god, and I will call upon the NAME of Yahweh ('the Lord')" (1 Kings 18:24).
It is the Name we are commanded to know Him by. It means "HE IS" whereas He calls HIMSELF by the Name EHYEH-ESHER-EHYEH ("I AM THAT I AM" or "I AM", the One Being), a Name we are not allowed to address Him by. Only YAH'SHUA (JESUS) called Himself by this Name (7 times) in the Gospel of John, showing that HE is YAHWEH too (John 6:35,48,51; 8:12, 9:5; 10:7,9; 10:11,14; 11:25; 14:6; 15:1,5).
Our English Bible translations have been hiding His Name until only very recently. The first Protestant Bible to finally honour the Father's Name from a reputable publishing house is the Legacy Standard Bible (LSB) - Lockman Foundation, 2021 - and is the successor to the popular English Standard Version (ESV - 2001) which is the successor to the equally popular New American Standard Bible (NASB). All three versions are what one might call conservative, literal translations. The popular Protestant copyright-free Word English Bible (WEB - 2020) also uses 'Yahweh' throughout. One Catholic Bible Translation also did this - the First Edition of the Jerusalem Bible (1966) - but the Roman Catholic Church caved into pressure from the 'Rabbinate' and reverted back to 'Lord' in the second edition. See Biblle Versions.
Incidentally, 'Lord' (or 'Master') has it's own Hebrew words, Adonai - a loan word from the Greek Adonis - and Ba'al - a loan word from the false Canaanite deity of the same name, and both these words are found in the Tanakh or Old Testament. However, YAHWEH translates the Tetragrammaton 'YHWH' which does NOT mean 'Lord'. YHWH is UNIQUE because it is the Father's Name and indeed the Name of the whole Elohimhead/Godhead in much the same way that all the members of family bear the father's surname, he being the head of the family. All scholars know this, it is the churches and their traditions that suppress it. And 'Lord' is not a 'NAME' but a 'TITLE', a reason it is used of human rulers too.
YAH'SHUA/JESUS (=YAH(WEH)/'HE IS', SAVES) is the Name of His Son, the 'Lesser Yahweh' who is always subject to the Father, and to whom, at the end of the æon or age He will yield back ALL the authority that was given Him as Representative in human form during the present æon/age (1 Cor.15:24-28). He is the incarnate Yahweh.
"For 'everyone who calls on the name of the Master/Lord (Yahweh) will be saved/delivered' (Romans 10:13 - Paul quoting Joel 2:32).
"And it shall come to pass, that whosoever shall call on the name of Yahweh shall be delivered/saved" (Joel 2:32 - quoted by Paul in Romans 10:13).
Are you stubbornly refusing the use the Creator's true name because of tradition? He has COMMANDED you to use it, and to calls upon Him for SALVATION, the Name which is contained within the Name of His Son, Yah'shua (Jesus). And whilst the MEANING of the Name is the main thing, and the CHARACTER that lies behind the meaning, that is still not an excuse to reject it.
The true Remnant have stopped making excuses and are returning to its use. And whilst for sure it's not the only thing that matters, it is not unimportant either. Obedience brings forth blessings.
"If you love Me, keep My mitzvot/commandments" (John 14:15).
"Walk in obedience so that you may live and prosper" (Deuteronomy 5:33).
Do you want Father's full blessing? Honour His Name and USE IT reverentially!
"Our Father which art in heaven, HALLOWED BE THY NAME (YHWH= YAHWEH)" (Mt.6:9, KJV).
It is the NAME that is "hallowed" (= HOLY, SET-APART, QADOSH, SACRED) not a title like 'Lord'. That does not mean (as Jews claim) that it should never be used (which is why they replace it with such titles as 'Adonai' and 'haShem'/'the Name') but that it should be used rightly - in righteousness, the way scripture commands:
"Thou shalt note take the NAME of YAHWEH in vain...You shall not MISUSE the NAME (YAHWEH) of your Elohim (God)" (Ex.20:7, KJV + Dt.5:11, NIV)
which obviously doesn't mean substituting Yahweh for 'Lord', 'haShem' or 'Adonai' but actually USING it in the proper, respectful way, "with fear and trembling" (Phil.2:12).
So why aren't you doing it and still calling yourself a 'Bible-believing Christian'? (And if you are, Yahweh bless you!)
